I know this could be a shot in the dark...I've seen Spring Awakening a bunch of times but always miss the chance to ask the music director this question. They use a few clicktracks in the show ("Word of Your Body"-Harpsichord, "Mirror-Blue Night"-E.Piano and Synth Drums, "I Believe"-Synth Drums, "The Guilty Ones"-Synth Drums etc.) And on the piano is a little box with a clicker that starts these tracks. Does anyone know what device they use? Brand, model, etc? Also, when MTI releases the rights will the clicktracks be part of the rental materials? It isn't listed on their site, but I can't imagine songs like "Word of Your Body" and its reprise without the Harpsichord. I'm a pit nerd, so this question might only interest myself and Josh F. haha!
Why is the clicktrack necessary? Just substitute those parts with someone on Keyboard/Synth playing a harpsichord or synth drums. That would be fairly typical.
Or just adapt the arrangements to eliminate these parts? I understand your question but I'm not sure how to answer it. Usually we would have a keyboardist handle these parts...

I understand the doubling aspect. Believe me, I've music directed many low-budget community theatre shows and had one reed player do more than one part. But on MTI's website it just lists Piano and Harmonium. I was just curious if anyone had any inside info as to if they were going to release their clicktracks or some kind of karaoke-esque backing track. Some of the things on the tracks aren't even instruments, just sound effects like the eerie whistling in "Guilty Ones"
I highly doubt it. But if you need tracking, you can always contact The MT Pit: www.themtpit.com
Expensive but possibly worth it. Good luck!
They probably will not have the click tracks available. Hopefully they will at least have the music written out in the parts somewhere. However, MTI's "Rent" does come with the two tracked numbers (but they sound pretty cheesy as they are not the original tracks).
