I'm auditioning for Spring Awakening coming up (not broadway obviously, just a community thing). Wendla has always been one of my dream roles so I really wanna prepare well. I'm open to other roles but Wendla is top. Right now I'm considering "Only Hope" sung by Mandy Moore just because it reminded me of the character a bit... others I've considered are: "I Don't Know How To Love Him" and "Portrait of a Girl" from Bare (this one might not have enough range?). Does anyone have some suggestions for me? Theatre or contemporary. I'm not a very strong belter, but Wendla's songs work great with my voice if that gives you an idea. I'm leaning more toward slower ballad type songs but do you think that's best or should I venture out to more pop rock styles?
I would appreciate any feedback about song suggestions and also: Does "Only Hope" work??? I've never before auditioned with non-theatre music.
Thanks so much!
They are going to care WAAAY more about how you sing the song then the song itself. I don't know the MM song (I'm old) but I think "I Don't Know How to Love Him" is a great choice.

"Thanks for the feedback! I know a lot of people have used that song to audition for this show specifically.
If you have to ask an anonymous comments board for advice as to your singing, you are on the wrong track.

"I don't see why asking for feedback is a bad thing. That's how you learn. I'm sure a lot of people here know a lot more broadway showtunes than I do. I'm not studying theatre or anything, it's a hobby. Don't know if this is the right forum but i don't know of many lol
