I'm going to see Spring Awakening for the first time in September. I was thinking about getting stage seating seeing how I thought it would be cool and on the site it is considerably cheaper. They also so say some of the show may be obstructed. Would you reccomend stage seating or should I get front orchestra? (PS. Please don't tell me to search this topic, I am on my school computer and its not letting me search)
If money's no real object, go for orchestra. I went for stage-seating because I'm a massive cheapskate, even though I knew it'd be my only time seeing the show on Broadway. I saw a lot of people's backs, and lost many facial expressions. Beyond that, my view was only really *obstructed* when there was an actor stood right in front of me. I very much enjoyed stage seating, and so did my bank balance, but it would've been nice to actually see the show properly as well. ^_^
Agreeing with Weez...
I first saw this with orchestra seating and then my second time on stage...I have to say I was EXTREMELY disappointed the second time around. You can't see anything and I find it's much harder to understand what they're saying. I had a couple beside me who had never seen the show and at intermission asked me to confirm what was going on because they couldn't hear. ALSO you have to remember that speakers face OUT to the audience...so when you're on the stage you're not getting the full effect...and really, that music is so beautiful you don't want to be robbed of hearing it the way it supposed to sound. As disappointed as I was though...I do have to say it was a different experience and I'm glad I did it my SECOND time around.
For first time I would go orchestra. Have fun!
For the first itme I would probably sit in the orchestra. I've done both, and I actually liked sitting onstage. I could hear fine (for the most part), and it's a lot of fun. You are looking at the side/rear view, but for the most part it wasn't "obstructed." I sat in the orchestra first, though.

Ditto. I've done both, and if I had one opportunity to see SA, I'd view from the orchestra. You will miss the total experience sitting on stage.
You also miss alot of the beautiful lighting designs when you're onstage. Especially during "The Mirror Blue Night".
For your first time, I would definitely suggest sitting in the house seats. I just sat on stage last Sat. and even though the experience is fantastic, you can't hear the songs as well and you can't see the actor's expressions sometimes.

I would for the orchestra. On stage seating is more about being close to actors than actually watching the show.

i have seen the show 3 times, once orch, mezz, then OS.
if money is not an object, atleast to see the show twice i would say go orch or even mezz (you do not miss anything there) first time & then onstage is good if you have seen the show already. i personally (just sat onstage last weekend) loved onstage & didn't really feel that i missed anything. the more downstage you are the better. i was in aa4 next to jonathan groff.

I've seen the show 4 times in the mezz and 4 times in the orch. I'd actually suggest sitting in the mezz. You will most definitely be able to get cheap tix wayyy ahead of time with either broadwaybox.com, schooltix.com or playbill.com
If you sit too far back in the orch, you cant see the lighting on the theater's side walls. And if you are in the front of the orch, it'll still be out of your view. So go for the front mezz to get the full experience of the lighting. The theater is small enough that youll still be able to see faces and all that.
Sit in the house for the first time. Stage seats are awesome, but you do miss alot. I would only do on-stage seats after I've seen the play once. Enjoy!!!
