"Evita (Madonna is NO Patti LuPone EVER)"

No she isn't; but her specific take on the role and her interpretation of Eva impressed me nonetheless.

She was just being Madonna, as far as I'm concerned....in different clothing.

Whatever. No point in arguing any further...neither my opinion nor yours will change.

First of all Billy Elliot is not a stage to screen it's screen to stage. Second it's one of the best musicals I've seen in years. How anyone can say it's the worst is beyond me.

Plays tend to have the best adaptations. Some of my favorites are:
Beckett
Lion in Winter
Auntie Mame
Amadeus
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
On Golden Pond
Driving Miss Daisy

Best Musicals:
Oliver
Sound of Music
Chicago
Music Man (Original not the mess with Mannered Broderick)
1776

Unfortunatley , in the worst plays to screen , Tennesee Williams fares the worst. So many times they tried to add a happy ending or water down the material:
Sweet Bird of Youth (Happy ending)
The first version of Glass Menagerie (Happy ending)
Cat On a Hot Tin Roof (all mention of homosexuality taken out)

Non Williams plays would be Equus (though we do get to see that Peter Firths part not only loves horses but is hung like a horse too)

Worst musicals:
Brigadoon (They took a singing musical and changed the emphasis to dance, ruining the score)
Producers (Mannered Broderick)
Mame
Hello Dooly
Too many to list them all.
