I dont know if this is considered as Stage Adaption bec. it only was released on video but Disney's ONCE UPON A MATRESS with Tracey Ullman was pretty bad !
Best Cabaret Hairspray Chicago West Side Story Dreamgirls Evita was brilliant! I don't care what anyone says!
Worst Rent The Producers Phantom...although I thought the cinematogrophy was beautiful. It was just slightly miscast...

"I hear L. Ron Hubbard is gonna blow the ladies...and all that jazz! C'mon babe! We're gonna unicorn hug, I bought some NyQuil down....at Wal-Mart?!"-Bebe Neuwirth singing ATJ to Musical Mad Libs at DQYNJ :)
No she isn't; but her specific take on the role and her interpretation of Eva impressed me nonetheless.

Whatever. No point in arguing any further...neither my opinion nor yours will change.

"Smart! And into all those exotic mystiques -- The Kama Sutra and Chinese techniques. I hear she knows more than seventy-five. Call me tomorrow if you're still alive!"
CHICAGO The Producers EVITA Joseph & Technicolour Coat CATS (I only liked it because Elaine Paige was BRILLIANT in the show) HAIR SPRAY (Like the songs and thought Michelle Pfeiffer was fantastic in the film, not a fan of Zac Efron though) My Fair Lady Sound of Music
Worst High School Musicals (Although it's the other way round, film then stage) Billy Elliot
First of all Billy Elliot is not a stage to screen it's screen to stage. Second it's one of the best musicals I've seen in years. How anyone can say it's the worst is beyond me.

Plays tend to have the best adaptations. Some of my favorites are: Beckett Lion in Winter Auntie Mame Amadeus Guess Who's Coming to Dinner On Golden Pond Driving Miss Daisy
Best Musicals: Oliver Sound of Music Chicago Music Man (Original not the mess with Mannered Broderick) 1776
Unfortunatley , in the worst plays to screen , Tennesee Williams fares the worst. So many times they tried to add a happy ending or water down the material: Sweet Bird of Youth (Happy ending) The first version of Glass Menagerie (Happy ending) Cat On a Hot Tin Roof (all mention of homosexuality taken out)
Non Williams plays would be Equus (though we do get to see that Peter Firths part not only loves horses but is hung like a horse too)
Worst musicals: Brigadoon (They took a singing musical and changed the emphasis to dance, ruining the score) Producers (Mannered Broderick) Mame Hello Dooly Too many to list them all.
