i was considering a double whammy with melanie griffith as his wife but i figured there would be effegy burnings of me across the board

Oh dear lord. Why don't we just cast Denzel Washington as Tzeitel and make it a Weissler-palooza.
the photo in the first post on this thread just made this all the funnier (for me). that's genius.
I almost had a heart attack when I saw this.
Hilarious!

I was already imagining how John Stamos would sound when I was waiting for this thread to load!
Good one!
wow 757 views of this thread...that is impressive (though i'm half waiting for this to show up on b'way.com as a news story)
imagine if John was parusing through here and found this? He would be upset. You all should be ashamed.
He couldn't be too upset knowing he has the last laugh. He still gets to look incredibly gorgeous!
I only saw Antonio (twice) in NINE. Anyone see John? How was he?
Lol, you got me! I saw that picture with his beard and I immediately thought Fiddler on the Roof.
Actually, in the picture you edited, he would make an okay Tevye, but that is just based on LOOKS.
I saw him about 3 nights after he started and he was having a lot of trouble singing and kept saying he didnt think it was "fair" for him to be reviewed so early in his run...oh well...thats life John. I will say this, he is a kind and generous actor and man and he was always a pleasure to speak with.
I also saw the final performance with him and he was wonderful. He did a beautiful job and then end when he says "how I need you so..." and he lost it it was beautiful because it was SO real he was totally feeling it...he was great.
Not as great as Banderas but he worked hard.
he seemed decent enough in the role but i guess he just lacked the drawing power of antonio
holy CRAP, you scared me. sheesh!

the downside to so many views is i can't do another one of these for quite some time....
that's true. you wouldn't want to earn a reputation as "The Boy Who Cried Stamos". then when he actually does get cast in something and you try to tell us, no one will believe you until the next day when the show inevitably closes. Stamos in a Broadway show is the equivalent of watching the tape in "The Ring", a sure sign there's only a week left.
"I wash my face, then drink beer, then I weep. Say a prayer and induce insincere self-abuse, till I'm fast asleep"- In Trousers
i just meant other horrible casting ideas-not just stamos

OMG, grow up. He was in ONE show when it closed, the other 2 shows he did he got great reviews and was NOT in when they closed. In fact, he was even asked to come back to Cabaret last year but had already signed on for Nine.
Give the guy a break, you try doing a show 8 times a week and get reviewed too early and criticized and compared to the former star. He worked damn hard in that show. I'm sure you all here could do better in the role, right??
A) someone is a little cranky
B) I can only imagine how many pages you hads to go through to find this thread
and C) for my sake and the sake of others grow a sense of humor
p.s.- All replacements get compared to the original star and most seem to hold up well (Jennifer Laura Thompson in Wicked comes to mind)
