Star Wars?

So, I heard that a musical version of Star Wars is in the works? Is there any validity to this? If so, I fear the demise of musical theatre all together!

"R2 may you find, a man who is kind. Obi-Wan Kenobi!"

"Inform Lord Vader that we have a prisoner. YEAH!"

This is a pretty authentic looking prank site. I am scared. Who could write such atrocious lyrics?!

In its first known public performance, Star Wars: the Musical receives multiple awards and the only standing ovation at the Florida District III Thespian Festival

This is a concept album made by the writers.

From the site:
Completed in 1999, Star Wars: The Musical is a musical version of Star Wars (A New Hope), written and recorded with original music and lyrics. There are other Star Wars musicals out there but they typically take existing pop songs or broadway show tunes and change the lyrics to fit the Star Wars universe. All of the music here is original, except where the themes of John Willams have been interwoven.

god knows george lucas whores out this enterprise to everything else under the sun. I guess a musical version isnt even that surprising.

re: Star Wars?

ummm... This has been around for a while. A recording was made where Chuck Wagner sang for Han Solo. A clip can be heard here:

re: Star Wars?

I just read the following on JRB's new website, and thought I'd resurrect this thread to see if there was any known truth behind it. This may be old news or a fallen rumor, but damn I want to know.

"Additionally, Jason served as the orchestrator and arranger of Charles Strouse and Lee Adams’s score for a proposed musical of "Star Wars."

Anyone??

This grave belongs to the artform that was once known as Broadway.
1799 - 2006
Death caused by a crossfire from that STAR WARS musical.
Will be missed by fans and fanatics alike.

re: Star Wars?

come on people... lighten up a little... if it goes to Broadway then it could just be a stupid fun time at a show... not everything on broadway should be LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA type shows... i would so pay to see Star Wars the Musical in a heartbeat... like that star wars in 30 minutes... that wasn't great theater but it was freaking hilarious!!

re: Star Wars?

Wow. That song with Chuck Wagner is horrific.

But I kind of like "One Season More." A lot.

EDIT: After listening to "One Season More," I decided to check out some other songs...and consequentally a little part of the musical theatre fan in me died. This show sucks. Example A:

We're the droids of Tatooine.
We're the droids of Tatooine.
And if you get mean,
we'll make you scream 'cause
we're the droids of Tatooine.
I am a droid,
so don't you mess with me.
I am a droid,
that's what I'll always be.

And don't worry...it gets worse from here.
