re: Star Wars?

Dear god in heaven. I'm even a loyal Chuck Wagner fan, so I don't know how on earth I missed THIS! I will turn in my claim as an actor if Star Wars the Musical ever makes it to Broadway.

Don't worry, the next sign of the Apocalypse after this is "Schindler's List On Ice."

It promises to be very crowd-pleasing.

re: Star Wars?

Ihang my head alittle as I say that I have been a big fan of the Star wars musical for a couple of years. i think the writers were smart in not taking themselves too seriously. With lyrics like:
Do you speak Bocce?
Not Splotchy
Not Blotchy
Not Crotchy
It's pretty obvious they aren't trying to write the next Les Mis. I think it would work a little better off-broadway myself, but definately thinkit deserves to be produced.

Side note: The god aweful Han Solo song by Chuck Wagner is from a different version of Star wars the musical.

re: Star Wars?

There are actually several "concept" recordings of Star Wars musicals out there (basically midi files recorded at home). There is one for Empire Strikes Back that's been around for years. That first article was either severely misinformed or a hoax as there has been no mention of Twlya Tharpe choreographing anything for Broadway other than the Dylan piece. The mention of Michael Flately being cast as Vader and the Riverdancing Storm Trooper number should have tipped you off.

As for the Chuck Wagner clip, that was actually from a demo recorded back in 1978 (?) for a proposed Broadway musical of Star Wars composed by none other than Charles Strouse which obviously never went beyond a reading.

I think it's safe to assume Star Wars will not be hitting Broadway any time in the near future and probably not in George Lucas's lifetime.

So should the April 1st date. :)

re: Star Wars?

Actually, if Charles Strouse wanna do it. Fine with me. I wouldn't do a show on such a subject matter. Won't work on stage. But for the sake of Strouse's tunes, it would be worth it. Unfortunately this new show appears not to be a Strouse/Adams version re: Star Wars?
