Stars in the Alley- partial review

I went to part of Stars in the Alley, it wasn't very crowded because of the rain, but it was still fun!

I saw: (in random order)

Right in Front of Your Eyes from Wedding Singer (I love Amy Spanger!)
Mamma Mia- Lay all your love (Don't go wasting your emotions)
When You're Good To Mama- Chicago
What you own- Rent
Light in the Piazza
All I Ask of You- Phantom
My Unfortunate Erection- Spelling Bee
I Know Where I've Been- Hairspray
Beauty and the Beast (I think?)
What About Love- Color Purple
Special- Avenue Q

I wish I went to this, but I didn't think that the rain would make it less crowded. Did Jose sing M.U.E.? Did he throw candy out?

How bad was it in the rain?

re: Stars in the Alley- partial review

I went just for the first song (had been told that Amy Spanger was singing first and I thought she'd be worth the rain...and she was)

It was brutal and I was nearly blinded by a woman beside me with an umbrella.

Props to "Chicago" for giving out ponchos - that saved MOST of the audience from a blocked view and umbrella stress. They worked great.

Liotte, you left out Mamma Mia - they went second, I heard them start as I walked away, but you probably blocked them out because whatever guy was singing was FLAT as can be.

The audience seemed pretty hard core - there were a lot of people there (not as many as usual) but it was still fairly crowded. More hardcore than me anyhow, as I bailed after Amy finished singing.
Now what would you say if today I started over? Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover And I'll pretend like everything is already alright And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight

I JUST got back...and I've never been more wet in my life. It was fun though, lots of good people were there. Tim Howar was the other person from Rent, and Sutton Foster, Bob Martin and Beth Leavel were there from Drowsy. Michael Cerveris and Manoel Felciano were there from Sweeney, and the whole cast of Spamalot was there, too. The Jersey Boys closed it out.
No day but today.

Yep, it seems as though they saved all the popular stuff for the last half. People started leaving like halfway through, so I was able to inch my way a little closer.

I was also there and actually randomly met Liotte(hi!). It was a great event even though I was soaked for the rest of the day. My favorite performances were The Color Purple, Sweeney Todd, Drowsy, Rent and Chicago. Jersey Boys was also a great way to end the event. Good times. I also received a Chicago pancho and Wedding Singer magnet.

Beauty and the Beast you THINK? Could you possibly have mistaken it for Threepenny Opera or some other show?
PEACE.

re: Stars in the Alley- partial review

I had put the song title "Home" next to it, but wasn't sure that's what the song was. So I put "I think", and didn't change it.

re: Stars in the Alley- partial review

I just thought it was odd that you couldn't be SURE a song was from B&B. I wasn't being a jackass. It's too early for that. I haven't had my coffee yet! Give me some time to wake up!
PEACE.

And no, I wasn't sure. It was a new person who was blonde, I was too far back to see and could barely hear, and I didn't recognize the song even though I've seen the show a few times.

Beauty and the Beast didnt perform.

For anyone who was there, I was all the way down in front, letting people in and out of the press pen at the beginning of the concert (wearing a black chicago cast jacket -- not the poncho the crowd was being given) and then for the rest of it I was over behind the Jersey Boys band, underneath the Shubert.

It was wet as hell and as a result, people were testy as hell.... but SITA never gets old for me, even if it's just seeing friends and collegues I havent seen in a while.

So then who was the blonde woman who performed? What did I miss?

Maybe was it Angie S from The Producers?

She really rocked out there. It was the second year I saw her perform during SITA and she blows me away!
