Were you towards the back liotte? I still think it;s funny how you and I almost always wind up at the same events and never see each other lmao

Ahhhh okay. It appeared pretty packed from where I was standing, but Im assuming as the rain got heavier, moer people left. There was a very irate man behind the general public barricades who got all sorts of pissed off at me because I refused to get monsooned on so he could see.

Feh.

re: Stars in the Alley- partial review

At the risk of sounding like one of the old, annoying complainers yesterday...

I went. It was terrible. The performances were good. But they weren't worth being stuck in the rain with obnoxious and cranky people. Seriously, some members of that audience needed to get a life and stop complaining. If you're going to be out in the rain at a fairly-crowded event in NYC, there are going to be umbrellas. I can't believe what an ordeal it all was.

Like CJR, my friend and I avoided being drenched by the rain by having a single (small, I might add) umbrella. A man next to us complained and actually had the audacity to push me. A woman behind me had the gaul to complain (behind my back at first, and then after the show was over). I really can't stand cranky people. If they don't want to deal with the rain, they should just stay inside.

Every single year I go to this show, the same old problems arise: crowd-control issues, lack of organization, and nobody knows what's going to happen until they finally let the crowd into Shubert Alley. I wish there were seating. It would allow people to see better; plus, it's a real pain to stand for nearly 90 minutes.

If it rains next year, I'm not going. It just wasn't worth my time. And normally I enjoy events like this!

Yeah, I agree luvwicked. If it's raining you have to assume there will be umbrellas.... and if you even remotely think that's going to irk you, dont go. It sounds bitchy but cmon now.

I dont know how close you were to the front, luvwicked, but Im standing there opening and closing the barricade to let press and other staff into the press pen and VIP area, and this guy is flipping out because of my umbrella. Yeah, okay, maybe I was a bitch to him, but he just wasnt getting it.... not to mention I didnt see him putting HIS umbrella down for the sake of the people behind HIM.

Believe it or not, there is actually a game plan/organization for crowd control and everything else you mentioned.... however, it doesnt always work out as planned. It's a horrible set up to have the stage at one end of the alley, rather than up against the Shubert.... Obviously, they can fit more people in the alley, but it surely makes policing the crowd a lot more difficult. I remember a few years back when the stage was on the 45th street side of the alley.... there were so many people crammed in and it was hot and humid..... and one or two people collapsed/passed out as a result. Insanity.

Yesterday a few people in the general crowd area got pissed off, essentially jumped the barricade and went and sat in the VIP area.

What ever happened to those poeple? The VIP area was empty which was unusual.

I actually had most of the VIPs crowding underneath the Shubert where I stood when I was done letting the press in....

Nobody wanted to sit in those wet chairs.... but apparently those 3 girls in the Chicago Hefty Bags didnt care lol

In the BWW pics, it looked like Jena Malone was singing. Did she sing something (w/ Samuel Barnett perhaps)?
