Ramsay dearest.... I suppose that some people might want to wait for the reviews of a particular show. I have a B.A. in History, so I am familiar with the topic of the mistreatment of Japanese Americans during WWII. Also, I distinctly remember watching the tv film "Farewell To Manzanar", in 1974 I believe. I know enough of the subject to want to see its theatrical dramatization. Also, I'm curious about George Takei and Telly Leung. Finally, this is an opportunity to see the marvelous Lea Salonga in a Broadway show. I've seen a BWW video clip of one of her songs. She is phenomenal. Therefore, my interest in "Allegiance" is genuine. I would rather see it for myself and see what I think of it. I'm not about to let some theatre critic/reviewer determine what I should see. That decision is all mine.

I just ordered my ticket for "Chicago". (front row-center) Row BB Seat 107. It wasn't cheap, but so worth it. ![]()

You could have easily gotten that seat for half price on a number of different sites.

Fair enough. My comment was more oriented to your picking one show over others given a limited amount of time for your visit. Personally, I make a point of seeing every show on Broadway even if they are said to be bad. But, I am able to do that because I live in NYC so I have ready access. But, for example, on a trip to London, I have to be far more selective. At the moment, for anyone going to London, I recommend Gypsy, Photograph 51 and Farinelli and the King. And, if you would like an additional recommendation for NYC, I recommend Charles III which I saw on a previous trip to London.

I guess it will be museum morning on that Mon. Dec. 28th. I'm hoping for at least a little bit of snow. I make![]()
a joke that the only snow found in Austin is on a glass surface.

Would you consider going for spring awakening since it's a limited engagement (ends jan 24th) + it's unique use of ASL?

That's an interesting suggestion. I appreciate the idea. However, I think I"ll stick with : The Radio City Music Hall Xmas Spectacular (which coincidentally happens to have two former Chicago tour members Tanner Lane and Matthew Winnege), Chicago, Therese Raquin, Aladdin ( I love the song "Proud Of Your Boy"..makes me cry) and Allegiance. I hope Dylis Croman plays Roxie during my visit, but that's not a sure thing. BTW, does anyone have any info to share about the Therese Raquin stage door? Just wondering. Also, I wouldn't mind meeting one of you "people out there....in the dark." It would be interesting to meet the person behind the username. ![]()

I've finally decided on my show selections. I had to decide between Dames At Sea and Aladdin (and Adam Jacobs' pecs...j/k). In the end, I wanted to support the little show Dames. With the Radio City Xmas show, I've seen a couple of the performers (who were recent Cellblock National/International Tour cast members). I was enraptured by Judith Light's performance in "Lombardi". I'm seeing "Therese Raquin" solely to see her. I have seen Mara Davi in "A Chorus Line", so she is the reason I'm seeing "Dames".
Sat. Dec. 26, 2015: Radio City Music Hall Xmas Spectacular: 4:30 p.m. 3rd Mezzanine
Sat. Dec. 26, 2015: Chicago: 8:00 p.m. Row BB Seat 107
Sun. Dec. 27, 2015: Therese Raquin: 2:00 p.m.: Rear Mezzanine
Sun. Dec. 27, 2015: Allegiance: 8:00 p.m.: Center Mezzanine
Mon. Dec. 28, 2015: Dames At Sea: 7:00 p.m.: Center Mezzanine
The only other thing that would make this vacation more perfect is a little snow. In my little corner of the world of Austin, Texas, we get a little bit of ice, but no snow.

Sounds good, my family will be there Dec 19-22. Got tickets for "American In Paris" and "School Of Rock" and my daughters will see "Spring Awakening" while we are at "American In Paris" . Hardest thing is going to be for my wife and I to get to "Birdland" for Christmas concert at 6p after seeing "American In Pairs" which starts at 3p. on Dec 20. It will be close but think we can make it, we know how to move quick on crowded NYC streets - lol. We are also going to Radio City Christmas show on Dec 21. Flying into LGA, cab is the best way but is going to run you $35-40 dollars at least.

Take this info with a grain of salt since it will be colder when you visit than when I was there, but the cast signed Playbills. Keira Knightly moves quickly and will not pose for photos. Judith Light -- who it seems you are most interested in -- took her time and talked with people, and posed for photos.

Five more days till the Big Apple. I'm kind of bummed that there is no snow in the weather forecast. For sure I'll be packing an umbrella. I'm thinking of taking a taxi from LGA to the Mayfair (8th and 49th). Last time around, I was the last person dropped off by SuperShuttle. I want to arrive with plenty of time..to take a short nap and get ready for my first show on Sat. at 4:30 p.m. After I see "Chicago", I plan on going to Marie's Crisis for the first time. I'm excited about that!

Have a great time! And don't worry about the lack of snow. Much easier to get around. Hope you fit a lot in.

Dames is a treat. May have made it in a smaller theater with lower prices. Broadway prices for essentially a off Broadway show was a mistake. You will enjoy it especially if you never saw it before which was the case with us. The cast is all around first rate.
Enjoy yourself

Thanks Smidge and Cupid. Maybe I'll run into some BWW members at Marie's? I've never tried the Brooklyn Bridge...that'll be swell.

Enjoy!
I saw a matinee of Therese Raquin and Keira did not come out afterwards, but signed playbills were handed out at the stage door instead. All of the other cast came out if i remember rightly. Might be different now that it is colder however. Best of luck to you!

I had a very pleasant conversation with "Smidge" (a.k.a. Scott) while at "Allegiance". This is the first time I've met and spoken with another BWW member. The crowd outside the stage door was huge. Telly, Lea came out. George Takei did not show at the stage door. I don't blame him. It was f'ing cold. Smidge was also at the (freezing) stage door outside the Longacre. We saw Lea Salonga, but then she went to the other side of the barriers...and then left in her limousine. I don't blame her...it was cold. Loved the show. Lea Salonga and Telly Leung were phenomenal. George Takei was surprisingly good. The ensemble did a terrific job in presenting a sober subject in its musicalized form.

Telly Leung was a very nice young man. Is he in his 20's? Anyway, he worked both sides of the stage door. There was a big crowd in both sections. I think he took pictures and signed Playbills for anyone who wanted it. I enjoyed his portrayal of a very conflicted individual. He does have a very young sounding voice.

Here at the Studio 54 stage door with Judith Light (located behind Studio 54 on 53rd Street. During my first attempt, I wasn't sure the picture would come out alright. She said to me she'd return if it didn't come out o.k. Sure enough, the first attempt was not successful and she returned to take this 2nd picture. Judith Light is the epitome of grace and class. She was serene and mellow as she interacted with her fans. Everyone was cool, instead of being a frenzied lot. Her character "Madame Raquin" was incredible. During the 2nd act, she has to stay motionless and quiet for a viery long time. Her power of concentration is unreal! The show itself was interesting. There were a few intense physical moments that I did not expect. Keira Knightly was very, very good in her portrayal. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a Tony nomination.

with the incredible Terra C (Velma Kelly). I had a blast at "Chicago". Terra C and Bianca Marroquin were fantastic! Had a bit of a conversation with Jason Patrick Sands prior to the show. He was sporting a short blonde beard. While performing "Hot Honey Rag", Terra and Bianca did not do the cartwheel. I was surprised. When I spoke with Terra C, she volunteered that she had some sort of leg injury that prevented her doing the cartwheel. This woman is incredible. Even with her injury, she did all of that dancing...including a split.
