Broadway In Bryant Park is a great way to introduce your child, Niece, Nephew to Broadway theater.
I took my two year old Niece to her first Broadway experience yesterday and she loved it.
She went and told her Mother:
"I love that kind of music and I love Auntie Corine"
She loved it.

I was right in front of you!!!
She was SO CUTE in her little tutu :)
Thanks. We will be there again next week weather permitting.
They live in New Jersey but her babysitter loves theater.
aww Corine that's adorable! I was five but yeah I agree the sooner the better!
My Nephew was Four when he saw his first Broadway show (Chitty)
He loves it but is in camp.
Thanks. I love her very much.
I wish I was able to go, my brother would love that (he's almost 6). I took him to see "Tarzan" last month and he had a great time.
When I was three, I used to pretend to call up Mary Poppins on the phone on my little plastic kitchen set. I used to sing all these Mary Poppins songs to her. This went on for a while. Does this count?

I definitely think you should start kids young but with a kid's show. I recommend Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, or Tarzan. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has "My Unfortunate Erection", "Spamalot", "The Color Purple", "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", "Mamma Mia", and "Jersey Boys" are way too PG-13. Heck, "Jersey Boys" drops the F-bomb more than once. And don't even think about "Avenue Q." Yes, kids should start young but not with shows that are too mature for them. I once saw little kids at "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and thought, "Oh, you eediots (their parents, and yes, the eediot is meant to be like Ren and Stimpy.)

I didn't see a real musical until I was ten, but I saw a TON of movie musicals...I always pretended that I was one of the Von Trapp children...hahahaha.
I didn't see a musical untill i was 9. Into The Woods
I saw my first broadway show at 4 or 5, but my parents started me earlier with Theatreworks. That is a great way to learn how tp behave in a theatre.
The outdoor concert series is a great way to expose children to the arts, for you can leave at anytime without a big fuss or anything.
My first show was a summer stock production of "Dames at Sea" when I was six...I've been hooked ever since!
We started my daughter out with outdoor concerts at 2 yrs. She just turned 13 and has seen over 200 concerts/shows. We almost always bring a friend or cousin. We often buy 6 tickets and take 3 of her friends.
These are the stage shows she has seen:

My grandparents took my older cousin to shows and so Amy would always watch movie musicals, which I watched because I idolized her. I was so excited when they took me to see South Pacific when I was ten and I have seen about 30 shows since.

Ok, I have to post an update. Jersey Boys does more than drop the f-bomb more than once. I saw it a few weeks ago and here's the deal. It drops more F-bombs than Rent!!!!!! It's like David Mamet wrote the book (he didn't.)
