alterego, it's about getting kids interested in Broadway. With every adult ticket purchased, one child can get a free ticket. You can find more info at www.kidsnightonbroadway.com
I think it's funny that they have "maturity" warnings for Chicago and Rent, but not for Gypsy. It's ok to take an eight year old to a show about a mother forcing her daughter to become a stripper?

Posted: 10/29/03 at 9:03amWhile I love the idea of introducing the young ones to shows it's a bit of a nightmare to perform during them, and to be honest it's the parents of the kids that are the problem. One woman in the first row brought a full KFC dinner to the show and fed her daughter chicken strips during the first act!

Posted: 10/29/03 at 10:57amYou can buy half price tickets at the tkts booth any day of the year, or get discounts at broadwaybox, com, so what's the big deal over one free with one full priced?

Posted: 10/29/03 at 12:35pmThe big deal is that you get to pick your seat and you don't have to wait on the TKTS line.

I noticed that Fiddler on the Roof is participating. I didn't know it would be out by then.
"I just do NOT understand Ave Q & Gypsy as kids' shows!" If you go to the site, it says these shows are recemmended for teens. I don't think adults would take a 6 or 7 year old to these shows.

Posted: 10/29/03 at 4:26pmI thought this had something to do with the shows altering themselves to suit children. haha.

Posted: 10/29/03 at 7:06pmThere are lots of special activities for the tykes, too. some shows do a "meet-the-cast" things. Restuarants have special menus and prices. There's even a booth set up in Shubert Alley where one can dunk FaithPrinceFan and Tamimi.
