This sounds really cool!
NEO2, a benefit concert for the York Theatre Company that celebrates emerging writers in musical theatre, will be held June 12 at the York's home in Saint Peter's Theatre.
Tony Award-winning composers Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty — of Ragtime and Once on This Island fame — will host the concert, which is scheduled to boast performances by Stephanie J. Block, Eden Espinosa, Barrett Foa, Cheyenne Jackson, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Janine LaManna, Christiane Noll, Phylicia Rashad, Michael Rupert, Jim Stanek and John Tartaglia. Attendees can expect to hear tunes penned by Jill Abramovitz and Joy Son, Scott Alan, Barbara Anselmi and Will Randall, David Austin, Neil Bartram, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Sam Davis and Georgia Stitt, Andrew Gerle, Jeff Hochhauser and Robert Johnston, Joe Iconis, Jihwan Kim and Sean Hartley, David Kirshenbaum and Adam Overett.
The gala evening is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM with a "Dinner by the Bite" reception and silent auction. The 9 PM concert will be recorded live by JAY Records and will be followed at 10:30 PM by a champagne/dessert reception.
The first NEO concert — an acronym for "new, emerging, outstanding" — was held three years ago and was recorded by JAY Records.
Tickets for NEO2 are priced $125-$500 and are available by calling (212) 935-5820 or by e-mailing boxoffice@yorktheatre.org (write NEO tickets in the subject line). A limited number of $25 tickets are also available at the York Theatre box office, at 54th Street just off Lexington Avenue.

ElphabaRose, I just got a pair of tickets for the $25 range, and there were only a handful left. The $25 tickets only get access to the concert, but it still should be a great time. Hurry, hurry, I bet by tomorrow, they'll be gone since there were only 15 total.
Popular, I got tix for Gretch and I, so we'll give you a full report
OMG! Between you, Gretch, and Liotte I am soooo vicariously there! LOL

Excellent! I'm glad you got the tickets Lauren:) Do we know what the attire is?
From a blog on Scott Alan's website... yep, you guessed, you'll be hearing Steph sing Never Neverland.
"The Neo2 Benefit is going great. As I found out on my date, (oy !!!) ticket sales are going fantastic. There is a waiting list for the $25 tickets. Please put yourself on the waiting list. It would be worth it in the end, TRUST ME !!! Our lineup is growing, and growing. I can't wait to meet some of these performers. Everyone has been sweet via phone and via email. Many people have asked me what everyone is singing. The track listing will be released soon, and YES, this whole concert will be recorded live by Jay Records, so that is exciting. I will say that Stephanie J. Block is singing 'Never Neverland.' I went back and forth between what song I wanted Stephanie to sing, and in the end, I am always asked where people can buy the song, and so I thought, this would give everyone the best opportunity. Plus, though there are fans of this song, it was also very important to me to showcase myself for those who don't know me or my work, and, well, let's be honest ..Stephanie owns this song. This is the song that first got me exposure, and I am looking forward to having it being supported at such a wonderful benefit, for such a wonderful Theatre company."
...she does own this song! :)

The lineup is growing....can't wait to see who they add. I'm a happy camper with the current lineup, but it's always fun to have new people too!

Terrific line-up. Not only Stephanie but a Barrett Foa/John Tartaglia duet!
Of course Stephanie will be doing duets as well - the following Monday night, June 19th at Birdland with David Burnham. Then her own two shows at Birdland the following week...she sure is busy.
*bump*
Let's post those reviews after tonight!! I would love to hear how this benefit went from anyone who is going.
Anyone back from the 6pm show yet? :)
I could have sworn I responded here...
Ummm, only that you got a ticket. LOL
No, I meant, when I got home tonight, I posted a response. But it was while the board was spazzing, so I don't think it worked.
Have we lost Stephanie to the Big Apple for good?
I hope she doesn't forget about CA completely (I doubt she would) but watchya gonna do... Broadway calls, she should answer, no?
From Scott Alan's blog written 6/10 (I just cut and pasted the main points regarding the show):
"Eden dropped out due to vocal problems and Aaron Lazar dropped out due to being a little over whelmed with work, and, soooooo ....last minute calls have been over welming, but we have a wonderful lineup. Tracie Thoms, who many of you know for her work as Joanne in the Rent movie, and Megan McGinnis, from Little Women, and Jonathan Hadley, from A Class Act, have all been added to the program.
The Neo II Benefit, that was scheduled to be recorded by Jay Records, will no longer be recorded, and that is all I can say 'bout that at this time, so those of you who are coming to the shows, really take it all in.
I won't be joining Stephanie on stage, because I will be running around in the back making sure everything is together, and I just don't have time to produce/direct AND perform, but our musical director, Matt Castle, is fantastic and I trust him completely. He will accompany Stephanie on an updated version of the song, as there have been some arrangement changes. Let's see if some of you can even tell ... =-) "
That's too bad about the recording, and Scott... I bet I would've noticed the arrangement changes!!!
