Not sure whether this has been posted before:

Wow, I love the versatility in Stephanie's voice. Although I love Idina, I would have preferred to have heard Stephanie sing the role of Elphaba on the OBC of 'Wicked'. She is amazing!
Do we know why she was dropped from the workshops?

Great clips, I really do love Stephanie's voice. I had the pleasure of seeing her in Wicked when the tour came to LA and she was incredible.

OK, I will agree that Stephanie has a nice voice, but She sooo does not deserve all the message board idol worship.

How is sharing a link to a song considered idol worship?

And, why on earth not? She's just as deserving of being mentioned on this board as anyone else.

Mentioning is one thing, constant butt kissing is quite another. again, I will say, she is good, I just don't think she is worthy of that much BWW MB praise.

A Stephanie thread NOT started by Popular! Yikes!

LOL

Seriously, thank you for the Steph links, no such thing as to much Steph (for me at least and everybody knows I am not a 'Wicked' fan either). Updated On: 12/22/05 at 10:31 PM

Footlooser - can I ask why you even bothered opening this thread? Honestly, there are sooo many threads that are started to specifically bash people. Why get offended when posters are complimentary? And what exactly do you classify as "butt kissing?"

First off I have to ask, how is this thread butt kissing?

Stephanie deserves every last bit of praise she has gotten and more. She is an amazing performer and if you don't see that that's alright but don't knock others tastes.

What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

I think it may stem from the amounts of post being offered up to praise Ms. Block. I again will say she is a good performer and I'm not dissing her. But I've been reading these boards for a long time now and the "OMG Stephanie is soooo great" threads out number the others by a great amount. Pluse a lot of the Stephanie lovers seem to be other performer haters, I know what you are thinking. "This guy is a Wickedhead Idina fan." Well, I do like the OBC and clips I have seen of Wicked, no matter who was singing the role of Elphaba at the time, I acctually really liked Stephanie on clips I have heard. But her faqns seem to be the haters of people other than Idina as well. and maybe you are not the ones that talk about loving this performer so much but I hate this other person, but, there are a lot. I also will give you a point on the "How is this thread Idol Worship?" It wasn't and sharing links is a great thing about BWW. This thread just happened to be one that stared with a "Stephanie is better than..." and I decided to speak up. My original point was that YES! Stephanie is a good performer, but the number of "I LOVE STEPHANIE" posts is getting insane. that's it, not bashing her talent, just my own opinion about the number of posts.

First off, it really irks me when someone doesn't know how to praise a performer without putting down another. I am definitely not like that and I don't really pay much attention to people who are. If someone was saying good things about Stephanie while talking trash about another I would understand your point... but I really haven't seen much of that happening and I wouldn't condone it if I did.

As far as the number of threads on her go, all I have to say to that is get used to it. She's just getting started and her star will continue to rise now that she's gaining national (and dare I say global?) exposure. It's only natural for her fan base to grow as she makes her way across the country with this tour.

FOOTLOOSER I did not express any kind of hatred towards Idina or any other performer. I merely stated that from hearing a variety of actresses singing Elphaba's songs, my favoured person is Stephanie. Not once did I 'dis' Idina, I think she is an amzing performer.
Have the message boards not been set up to express our thoughts and feelings about performers, shows etc?

Sorry to thread-jack, but I noticed from Scott Alan's site these demo recordings for a new work. There are several BEAUTIFUL songs on that page including "Home" sung by Shoshanna. I know a LOT of people like to bash Shosh (and I've never actually heard her), but she sounds AMAZING in that song. Very understated, controlled, heartfelt singing. Now I want to see what all the hub-bub is all about with her as Elphie before she leaves!

FOOTLOOSER have you noticed how even more threads have been posted about other performers (i.e. Idina), so don't start with them all being about Stephanie. I feel happy when I see one of the few threads about her compared to all the other performers.

I don't understand the complaining about the content of ANY thread on here. If you don't like it, don't read it. That's your perrogative.

Personally, I adore Stephanie and would kill to see her live. Here to hoping I can see her in Atlanta.

If Steph was getting a new thread everytime she pooped (which a couple of performers practically get), then I'd be annoyed, but Steph basically gets one thread every couple of weeks, so it isn't by any means annoying.

'Never Never Land' is a great song. I love Stephanie's voice. I just saw her in Wicked last wednesday and she was amazing.

Hanna from Hamburg: I listened to Home too. I think Shoshana sounded beautiful singing it. I wasn't too thrilled with her before when i saw her in Wicked, but she sounded great singing that song.

I didn't see anyone dissing any other performer except for you footlooser, saying she is not worthy of all the BWW praise.

The original poster was just saying that while he loves Idina, he would have preferred to see Stephanie in the OBC. Maybe an overtalked about topic, but not bashing at all.

Anyway, I think Stephanie has an amazing voice and I hope she gets everything she is hoping for.

all those songs on his site have been up there for a while and there is also a video of Steph's performance. I love the way she sings that song... I saw her perform it live earlier this year at Makor and she was wonderful- you can tell when she really puts 110% into her performances, the passion and fire is there...
