Upright Cabaret in Los Angeles is putting on a concert featuring the music of Stephen Schwartz. I heard about this concert several months ago and it will take place next month at the Ford Theatre in LA.
There have been no guests announced yet. Has anyone heard any rumors about who is set to perform? Thanks

Why would they name the concert "Making Good" if that is a cut song from Wicked that nobody has really heard of? I would think they would attach the title "Wicked" so people who aren't huge theater dorks but have seen the show once might be interested

I agree! The name of the concert is terrible.
I'd still like to know who's performing though. lol
He'll be promoting his new opera, "Seance On A Wet Afternoon". I believe Lauren Flanigan is going to be joining him, but I am not positive on that.

Nicole Parker has headed back to LA and so is Alli Mauzey when she finishes. Maybe they are performing?

Go Stephen!
May it be a terrific concert.
You deserve it after all the time and support you have offered fellow artists with those free and open ASCAP workshops.
And I like the "Making Good" title. that's what everyone in the industry wants to do, to make good. helps make all the effort worth it..

I'm not saying I don't like the title, I just think it will go over many people's heads because I hadn't heard of the song until sometime around the 5th anniversary concert. Most people who see shows aren't interested in the demos on youtube
A one or two day concert shouldn't be hard to fill once the word goes around.

"Making Good" would work for a Wicked concert, but this is suppose to inlude Pippin and even introduce a new show.
Still don't understand why they would use "Making Good" for this concert.
It sounds like a freaking charity, "Making Good."

Yes she is performing with members of the opera company from Santa Barbara where the first performance was held. Stephen will be playing the piano when the opera is highlighted in the first act.
The second act will be the homage to the songs written by Stephen Schwartz and performed by some of the singers that perform with Upright Cabaret. At Eden's concert last week at the Ford Amphithetre Chris and Shane announced that the following would perform: Valerie Pettiford, Billy Porter, Ty Taylor are the only ones I remember, but others will be added.
As for the title of the show, I'd say it's a play-on-words between one of his songs which was expanded and made better as "The Wizard and I" and the fact that Stephen did exactly that = making good!
