Stephen Sondheim/John Weidman @Yale Rep 3/29

A free public conversation with Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman will take place this coming Wednesday, 3/29/17, at 4:30 p.m., in between performances of the excellent new production of ASSASSINS at the Yale Rep in New Haven, CT. What a ****ing amazing production! So happy to have finally seen a fully realized and haunting production of this amazing musical! I was not familiar with really anyone In the cast, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to see a production of this incredible musical! (Missed the Roundabout revival though saw the anniversary concert.)

The set is quite spare, but the use of lighting to highlight the tension between the individual assassins and would be-assassins is used to quite exciting effect. Ugh! And the performances were (well...all but one) were simply outstanding! I always knew the book for this musical was impressive, but I never really appreciated how impressive until seeing this production.


if you have the opportunity to make it to New Haven, I cant recommend this production highly enough! So worth the two hour commute from NYC! The Encores! production of Assassins is going to have a lot to live up to after this weekend!
