Okay I probably should have included this in the last thread I started, oh well. Sorry.
I recently mentioned that I prefered Angela Lansbury to Patti LuPone as Mrs. Lovett. That being said, I definitely prefer George Hearn to Len Cariou on the recording. Any thoughts? Someone earlier said Brian Stokes Mitchell was miscast.

^ Not really. George is good, and anyone from the original cast, but I hated the Johanna, and Anthony. I always skip those parts.
Oh on a side note, I prefer Len to George.

I like all on the original cast recording best.
Saw the original production three times on Broadway and it was by far better than the Patti concert at Lincoln Center in every way.

I agree about Anthony and Johanna on the DVD (LA cast). Ugh. Give me Victor Garbor and Sarah Rice anyday!
Oh... and Len was deeply menacing and more effective than George as Sweeney. Len really scared you in the part.
