Ok, so I'm buying a subscription to a theatre in my area that takes in a lot of non-equity and non-union shows, and I'm getting a subscription for my birthday to see EVITA, CHICAGO, and The Producers. I have one slot left, and I'm thinking of using it to see Blast. However, I also could see Stomp. I've heard great things about Stomp and missed it when it came last year, but BLAST has an 8% discount. So I guess it comes down to a matter of opinion: which would you rather see, Stomp or Blast? Thanks for any and all advice.
I loved Stomp when I saw it. Had such a fun time.
I haven't seen Blast though...
I adore Blast...killer musicianship and a fantastic sound. If it's anything like the last time they went out you will not be disappointed.

I've only seen Stomp and gosh, it was so annoying.
I've seen STOMP twice - once from the orchestra pit and ended up with a broken drumstick in my lap! Great time.
I'm an old Drum Corps fanatic and go to competitions every summer. I would suggest you skip BLAST, investigate this summer's competition schedule at www.dci.org and visit a local competition. Pricing will be well below what BLAST is playing at and you will have a great experience.

Both shows are wonderful. Blast has a bit more spectacle, while STOMP has a bit more variety. But both shows are worth seeing.
I have seen stomp 3 times and Blast! twice.
You can't lose with either in my opinion. But, I was in Drum & Bugle Corps as a teenager, so that may bias my opinion, but Blast! is a much more entertaining show. There is a definite wow factor to Blast!. Blast! has music which makes it easier for most people to enjoy. It has some humor, but would probably not be funny to non-marching band/drum corps people.
EDIT: For the DCI fan that suggested seeing an outdoor show instead. By all means do that too. But, Blast! is like a highlight reel for DCI, the best of the best performers (most of the performers are DCI alumni) and the favorite songs from the history of DCI shows.

Yes, I saw Blast a number of years back when it was first touring. I also have the tape and pop it in every now and again - and it is a very fine show - I was a huge fan of Star of Indiana, which, essentially, begat Blast.
However, with the question being a necessary choice between Stomp or Blast, I suggested Stomp and referred ElFantasma to an actual Drum Corp competition as an alternative to the high prices usually being requested for touring shows.

I have seen both shows multiple times. They have both come through the theater that I work at in Tucson. I was a stagehand for Blast and worked on the PR for STOMP when they were in town. Both are the wonderful shows. You can't go wrong either way. They're the top of their respective fields and the copycat shows (Cookin' anyone) just pale in comparison. It looks like Blast has a new show that will be touring in 08/09 called M.I.X. (Music in X-Treme), so that may mean Blast will be taking a break for a while, not sure. Where as STOMP will be around for a long time. It consistently sells out. You'll be happy with either though.
I think stomp is more artistic but Blast is exciting to watch :)
There is incredible artistry(sp?) in Blast. Intricate choreography and staging is married with talented musicians and dancers most in their late teens and early twenties. The sound is incredible and the drumming is phenominal.
Oh, no doubt, I just meant that Stomp might be a little more inventive....but I prefer Blast :)

Blast! is a top-quality spectacular, and I would recommend it to anyone. It's hard to explain what it is, but it's stirring both musically and visually, and you will have a grand experience.
Stomp has such raw energy that makes it exciting, but in my opinion the DVD "Stomp Out Loud" was much more intricate and fascinating than the stage version.
All that being said, my strong recommendation will be: seeing Blast! live and Stomp on DVD!
