Posted: 2/1/09 at 7:39pmWas there a CD created after the Toronto 2006 or the Goodspeed pre-Broadway try-out period? I haven't been able to find anything commercially released yet. I was curious to know if Jonathan Tunick's role as orchestrator goes all the way back to the first shows in Toronto or if he became involved during the later Goodspeed try out period in 2008? If someone who saw either would post an answer it would be great to know. In spite of some comments I've read from some San Francisco area people who say they haven't heard much about it, I have heard quite a buzz in bay area theatre groups about this show since last December 2008. The word is that the music is very good.

Posted: 2/1/09 at 10:28pmWarning to those trying to access the goodspeed upload video of The Story Of My Life from the message board member who placed the link. It may damage your computer. My application quit twice so if this is someone's idea of a nasty joke, it isn't funny. It's too bad this sort of thing happens.

Posted: 2/1/09 at 10:34pmyeah, it worked for me too, but again, took a long time to buffer, and there wasn't anything holding my attention to watch it all, so after the first two songs, I exited... I didn't really care for the music :/

Posted: 2/1/09 at 11:01pmMany thanks to the person who suggested trying Quicktime on my Mac to access The Story of My Life video with music clips. It worked fine. Thank you for taking the time to suggest this. I liked what I saw and heard very much. The music and the Jonathan Tunick orchestrations sounded quite beautiful. So much of what we perceive when we see or hear something new is individual. I saw the Roundabout 2004 production of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins and was overwhelmed by the beauty of it. Michael Starobin's smaller orchestrations for this production worked very well, with the orchestra located in the boxes on the right and left side of the Studio 54 Theatre. It was quite amazing how many different instruments each person played and the sound was very beautiful. I found the reaction was different with some who saw this show but for me it was a first class theatre experience and I have a feeling based on the short sound clips I just heard from The Story Of My Life that I would probably embrace this new musical. Can't wait to see and hear it first hand.
