Just my luck! I do not get back to NYC til April 14th! I would LOVE to see these guys, how cute and adorable and talented are they??? VERY! In my humble opinion. Then again I got blasted for saying on my trip to NYC last month that "Spamalot" was a better show than DRS, funnier, and with the exception of Norbert, I was not very impressed, so my opinion may not be worth much. Break a leg to these hunks on March 14th, someone please review for us.

Why do they have to advertise themselves as straight? I don't get it. Shouldn't they be advertising their talent and not their sexual preference?

Um, they're not billing it that way. They're billing it as straight guys performing for gay men.

Yeah, it's totally targeted at an audience of gay men. Several of my gay friends are going. And they're all hoping that the Rent fangirls don't descend on XL but apparently the plan to get all the young ones in was squashed pretty quickly. That was pretty funny. I mean, seriously, do they honestly think that that is the type of client the XL people want to encourage? Non-drinking teenaged girls? Haha.

I'll be there, along with a bunch of other girls who usually end up at these things. I don't think there'll be any under 21's there, but a ton of them got in last time, so I'm sure a few will be there.

Are we supposed to be impressed that you guys know people on "the inside?"

Gay? Straight? Male? Female? If you want to hear good music sung by amazing artists (well 2 I can vouch for that I have personally heard) then go. Stop obsessing about who is or isn't going to get in the place!

Do you really think a gay club would be billing something that way if they thought it was offensive? I really don't think there's any offense intended, or implied. Just a play on a now very household term.

Beaver, I'm not sure what point you're making. I'm straight(ish) and I go to gay clubs all the time. Yeah, the "Straight Guys for the Queer Eye" thing is a little risque, but it's a fun marketing slogan.

I really think the reaction would depend on the environment. Anyone who has been to XL knows that they feature Broadway performers almost every week. Some are gay, some are straight, some are male, some are female. I'd hardly say that by having straight performers, the atmosphere is now unsafe for the usual clientele. From what I can tell having been there, it doesn't seem like the management or the people who go there are too put off by the entertainment they bring in. Which is good, since why would that ever be the intention?

Woah, woah, woah.

They're just four guys performing. Who cares if they're straight or not? (I know, the marketing people obviously did). You don't always sleep, or try to sleep with the performers, do you?

And you should check your assumptions about whether or not people have been made to feel unsafe. I grew up with a gay parent, and have plenty of experience feeling unsafe where I shouldn't.
