Wouldn't it be great if it were true? (Sorry for the headline, but it got you this far!)
Any thoughts?
Um, yes.
I think I might buy tickets to every show.
Right?! Me too...
that would be great but I don't see Streep doing a year run on broadway. I know her name comes up a lot and I know she has done lots of theatre but no long term runs. She could make 2 or 3 movies in a year and make 20x what she would make on broadway.
She's never been in it for the money.
Anyway, this thread is all in fun. Who knows, for a limited run she might do it...

Only if Loretta Swit plays Petra.
LOL, Dollypop!
Like I said, I would love to see her do it(I'd definitely make the trip to NYC from Boston) but usually for a show to make back their initial investment, Streep would have to stay for a while. There are other people who can explain that better. There are shows that make their money back quickly(ex.Sweeney) but a show like ALNM but would take longer sadly.
I'd love it. Idc who they cast, I just want a revival!
Dear Wiggum (love your avatar BTW). This thread is just a fantasy. However, the role is not terribly physical and was written for a "star" to be able to last awhile in it. Still, just a dream...
ok I'll go with it... I'll hope as well then
Like wickedgeek said, I'd love to see it on broadway. I saw a so-so production in Boston a few years ago.
Kline as Frederik?
I could also Malcolm Gets as Frederick!
Streep would be a great Desiree!
and I think it's time Glynis went on as Armfeldt
Petra should, I think, be an unknown.
Lauren Molina might make a good Anne (Frederiks wife, my mind drew a blank...)
Malcolm might be too young. Who knows, maybe Johnny Depp. Hey, Cariou did both roles!
Johnny Depp would make a good usher, you're right.
Does that mean Usher would make a good Depp?
I think that means that the only thing Johnny Depp should have to do with ALNM revival would be as an usher, you know "ma'am A 101 is on the other side of the auditorium"
I'm sure he'd bring alot to it. Would Tim Burton have to direct?
Yes. And the walls of the country home would be played by people in elaborate costumes who sing and dance and comment on the action
and Danny Elfman's reworking the score
Nope, he's busy working with Jerry Herman re-hashing that Sweeney film...

Loretta Swit is hardly unkown! A star of her magnitude isn't often found on Broaddway these days!
they've already cast Marissa Jaret Winkour. Sorry.
I spit up a little on that last one, Dollypop!
Only if I can play Anne.
Also, I've always thought Jake Gyllenhall would make a fantastic Henrick.
That casting might actually work!
Can he sing?
