In Reidel's column today is an account of Stroman looking over the Hilton theater (for Young Frankenstein)while the cast of PQ was on stage
Tacky is a word that comes to mind

She already has the St. James.
How does he know that she just didn't go to see the show?
According to the article, the owners of the ST James are p.o.ed about not getting either a share or bigger share of the profits from YF
She was definitely scouting the theater for YF . The article notes the theater is the most expensive to rent & is thought of as a white elephant in that only one show has ever succeeded there.

She's not the tacky one. It's the theater owners who let her in, if anyone at all.
It's a BUSINESS. Like ANY other. It's not about the cast's feelings. They know what's up, like any other company of workers in the world knows when their business has fallen on hard times.
I don't know why we constantly act around here as if actors have no idea that the field they've chosen is an insecure one.

It might not have been the most appropriate time for her to see the theatre, tho, I doubt it was her fault, more of an unfortuante coincidence.
I heard today that supposedly, what they currently have for the set does not fit as well they would like in the St. James (in terms of how much room it leaves), and before they spend more time/money reworking, they are investigating their options...

The St. James does have a notoriously shallow stage.
Untrue or true..it's kinda funny that a story gets people all upset. I love Wanna Be A Foster! You totally rock in all your posts.. HAHA. The PQ is a pile of hot poo just let it fade into memory

People shouldn't take these things at face value. Here's what happened:
Stroman took a look at the theare at around 10:30 in the morning. There was ONE (yes ONE) swing on-stage warming up. Riedel creates the impression that she stormed in while a full-scale rehearsal was going on.
And of course, everyone here believed him.
And I'm sure she cackled evilly while crowing at the swing "Pack your bags - there's a new pirate in town, queen!!"
Haha, that made me laugh Rath. I just got this image of Susan Stroman racing down the aisles of the Hilton with a sword.
Well she did cut the throats of her THE MUSIC MAN company by sending out a non-Equity tour and calling it The Broadway Show.
It is a business after all.

Was The Music Man tour really non-equity? I remember seeing it when I was younger, and everything was top notch with the huge house and everything. Usually non-equity as really crappy sets.
Anyways, if the YF set is the problem, why would the designer just not design to fit that stage? That doesn't make sense. Unless he was just "free handing" some ideas.
The word on the street is that Riedel's ranting today is a ploy to get the St. James at any price.
Yes, THE MUSIC MAN tour was non-Equity.
Which is not a knock at the cast but at how cheap they sent it out.
