Okay, so we can't decide on which show to see. We know Hamilton is probably going back to win best musical, and we went to the Tony's last year and didn't see fun home and regretted it. Between Hamilton, The Color Purple, and Allegiance, which one would you choose?

Out of the three obviously Hamilton is the one.

It may not be that simple. It depends when they are visiting New York or taking the trip to see said show. Hamilton is pretty much sold out until the winter (and maybe even beyond).

You can still get tickets to HAMILTON.

Technically GL said "pretty much" sold out.

If you have any opportunity to see Hamilton, you should absolutely do it.  Total no-brainer. I saw it at The Public and the first Friday night of Previews - and I've already bought tickets to see it another two times.  It's really a once in a lifetime chance - especially with the truly spectacular original cast. I think you will really regret missing it...

If you can't find any way to do Hamilton, I'd go with Allegiance as I think it will be the more interesting show.  I've bought tix to see it in November.

Hope you have a great trip!

Hamilton.  If you can score tickets. Have you seen Fun Home?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I mean if it tells you anything about how good it is, I would still have a hard time deciding between Hamilton and something else even though I've seen it twice and have tickets for 3 more dates. I just don't know how I'll ever pass up an opportunity because I love the show so much.

But if you can't get tickets to Hamilton if I were you I'd wait a bit to get tickets. I know some people hate the color purple but I personally loved it--I went in Chicago with low expectations and ended up going back and taking others. I'm extremely excited about the cast and I definitely am going to make it a point to see this. I am really really hoping allegiance will be good but there is a small part of me that's really worried it's going to be terrible.

Based on the shows you've listed I assume you're going in November or later so school of rock and fiddler may also be possibilities.

Aside from hamilton I doubt any of these are going to be impossible tickets so if I were you if I couldn't get tickets to Hamilton I'd try to wait until the previews start to see what the buzz is. (Obviously that depends on your timing.)

Also I'm not sure if there's a reason you're choosing only one, but if it has to do with scheduling it's worth noting that there are a lot of time periods when Hamilton has a non-traditional schedule. I am going on a Sunday night in the fall and a Monday night in the spring, which is really exciting because most other shows are dark and I am not foregoing the opportunity to see something new to see something I've already seen 3 or 4 times. It's worth looking into if you want to try to sneak in another show. Of course it could just be you don't want to spend all your time and money in theater so then this advice isn't real helpful. :)

I thought Hamilton was overrated. Go see The Color Purple or anything else for that matter. Also thought Fun Home is overrated.

I disagree about Fun Home; I thought it exceeded the hype. A truly revolutionary piece of theater.

I plan to see all three in my Jan 2016 visit, already got tix for Hamilton. As for FH, that's  for others to weigh in, I've had no interest to see it (and no regrets)!

I'd like to go off the board and recommend Fool For Love

"As for FH, that's  for others to weigh in, I've had no interest to see it (and no regrets)!"

I will never understand this kind of thinking.  Are you homophobic or are you bothered by the subject of suicide so much that you can't see it? There seems to be an opinion by some that they don't want to see it because they think it will be too bleak.  It's surprisingly funny and touching.  It's an important part of theatre with a message that needed to be addressed.  I saw Fun Home last month and I thought it was beautiful.  I highly recommend it.

I have not seen Hamilton yet, but there are reviews saying that it's worth selling your children on the Internet over so I guess it must be more than pretty decent.  If you can get tickets,  you should go see it and report back here with what you thought. :)  Happy ticket buying!

It's because ebontoyan has to get their card stamped at least 10 times for telling us that they have no interest in seeing Fun Home, in order to redeem it for a free small popcorn.

I have posted my thoughts on FH in other threads and the best part is...I don't need to rehash them for anyone on this board. And icecream, you've already made your (wrong) assumptions on what I think, I don't feel the need to add anything more.

As for Berber, how many times do you think I have posted about FH in the last 6-8 weeks. But then for some the truth is just so inconvenient. And just shows how some people act on this board when you don't follow the majority opinion.  Oh well

To the OP, good luck in making your choice(s)

Have a great life to all!
