The show is pretty well soldout completely. They've been SRO since not long after it opened. There aren't any discounts or, really any tickets to be had at all (don't expect to see it on TKTS for a couple of years). Your best bet is standing room, which is available at the box office, day of, for $21.25.

Well, the plan is that the current stars are going to be replaced by other stars. And frankly the biggest "name" involved with the show is "Monty Python" not Azaria or Hyde-Pierce or Curry (any of whom can leave and not effect the box office by a single penny). This isn't a star vehicle like the Producers (and it should be noted that even with that show it was well over a year AFTER Lane and Broderick left before discounts began showing up).
The Python name is an enormous brand that's immensely popular worldwide. I wouldn't expect to see discounts for a few years.

A friend of mine got excited when she said she found tickets for a certain date we wanted to go...and then I realized it was through one of those companies that have tickets and sell them triple the price. Middle Balcony...300 dollars. NO THANKS! lol

Only my opinion, but I saw Spamalot and it was somewhat funny, but not hysterically so...unless, of course, you really like Monty Python humor so much that you just can't wait. I would say don't be disappointed if you don't get seats for awhile. At one point, I wanted to yell, "enough! when one joke was just beaten to death." The cast was very good, but there are other shows you can see that are just as good, maybe better. Too bad they closed already, but ALL SHOOK UP and LENNON were extremely entertaining, despite mixed to bad reviews by critics. MOVIN OUT is closing in December, but also a great show.
Check out playbill.com where they list the student rush and standing room policies of the currently running shows, as well as if there is a lottery instead. Then just get there early, with your valid I.D., and pray.
There are a few other good plays to choose from, depending upon what you like to see, but don't rely on critics, audiences responses are more objective as guidelines. I know I've been disappointed by plays/musicals that were given great reviews by critics, that sparked advance sales so heavily that discount tickets became nonexistent. The experience can still be a surprise, so go with your own gut feeling. As I said, only my opinion...
Magdalene, how far ahead of time did you have to get there for standing room tickets? And do you think there's a better chance to get them for matinees vs. evening shows?

My friend got there at 6:30am on a Wednesday and got a choice for either show. This was during the summer so it is probably slower now. We saw the matinee though.
The box office opens at ten, but people start lining up WAY before that, as the tickets are sold in order of the line, first come/first served.
I'd say that eight is probably the latest you can get there. I got there around ten of 8 on a Saturday, and my friend and I got the last two tickets that they had for either of the two shows.
I got in line for SRO at 4:15am (the only reason it was that early was I had just gotten off of the bus, and didn't have anything better to do!) This was a Saurday am, and the next people shoiwed up at about 6:30 am, then about 7:30 am, and a fair amount by 8:30. You can buy 2 tickets, either both for the matinee, both for the evening, or one for each show (which is what I did!). This was the weekend of the BC/EFA Flea Market, so that may have had some bearing on it...
"To the best of my knowledge, the show is sold out through next November."
Wow!
Wow indeed! Actually, if you are enterprising enough, you can go to Telecharge and find single seats (and 2 together!) for many shows between now and then...
