Do ALL theatres actually check the student IDs?
Recently ran into one that didn't.

For Jersey Boys they are very strict about checking the Student ID with Matching Legal form of ID for age. That's my experience, other than that most places go by looks; and not actually checking ID, although you are taking a chance and they will never forget your face

I always carry my id. Why would you not bring it whether they check them or not.

I have another question about student rush....does it matter if you're an older college student? I've gone back to school and am in my 40s. I have the college ID with picture. Would that still work? Where does it say anything about age? I'm thinking about Company, Spring Awakening and Jersey Boys.

Hornbass, you should be fine. A student, is a student, is a student, right?

Bobo2, the reason I ask is because my friend is in town but forgot her student ID at home. We'd planned on seeing Spring Awakening, she's HEAD OVER HEALS in love with the CD but now won't get a chance to see it if we can't get student tickets.

I was just curious since another friend of mine DID have an ID at Chicago a few wks ago and they didnt even ask to see it.

If there are only two of you going, as long as one of you has a student ID it should be fine. They give out two tickets per student ID, so as long as you have one, eve if she doesn't you'll be fine.

Chicago is a general rush, that's why they didn't need their ID.

I know at Grey Gardens they check you rID pretty thoroughly.

Well, if they don't take a good look at it, you can cheat.

I'm in my 40s also, and am carrying a full 18 credit course load. I have never had a problem since I discovered Student Rush, the only perk I get for paying full tuition and losing billable hours every semester :) Just make sure your college ID has a photo.

Good luck!

Spring Awakening didn't really look at my ID at all, they just kind of took a glance and saw that I had one...

Do high school IDs apply, or only college ones?

I have always used my high school ID and have never had a problem. They never ask me, though, as I look about 12.

I think starving artists should get IDs... Who's with me? :)

How much does Lincoln Center Theater enforce the age proofing of students? What is the age limit? Thanks in advance!

all i know is that at the jersey boys theatre, there is a sign posted stating that Student Rush Tickets are for current Student ID and Valid ID under the age of 28. They have held to that when there were people in front of me trying to get student rush. It sucks, but that's how it goes... sorry

WilliamT: Have you tried buying the cheap onstage seats? It's only a few bucks more than student rush. You're gonna get a different view, but if your friend really wants to see it, try to get what you can. Are the onstage tickets sold out for the date you need?

I thought Jersey Boys used to have a 25 age limit on their rush. I remember the time I got rush, there were 3 of us getting 4 tickets and one was over 25, so we the other two just got the tix. Since she never tried to get a pair, I'm not sure how stringent they are about that aspect of the policy.
