Student rush? - from a Canadian

Hi there,

I'm heading to London for the day (Wednesday), before a big trip.

I frequently use the student rush in New York, but am finding fairly ambiguous information online for London.

It seems there is something called Student Standby available, but never any specific information for a show.

I'd like to go see Sister act (#1 priority), and the other three on the list, though only one will make it, are Blood Brothers, Oliver and La Cage.

Can anyone tell me if the four shows have student standby, what the process is and if there are any special instructions (like show up early)..

I would also appreciate cheap good places to eat between shows. :)

Feel free to send a message with info or reply. And I thank you very much for the information. I am very much looking forward to a day at the theater in London. It's been a couple of years!

London does not do Student rush.

I post a lot of info on the thread 'London next week' which is on the main board and gives you all the info you want for the shows you want to see.

I know for blood brothers you can DEFINITELY get best avaliable for £20 at any time of the day of the performance.

From one Canadian to another, don't see Blood Brothers. In my opinion, it is truly a horrendous stage musical. There are far better productions to see while in London.

Im sorry but I must disagree. Blood Brothers is a great show all round and you will go in and just watch this fantastic story unfold infront of you. I have already seen it 7 times and am planning my 8th trip for sometime this autumn.

It has been playing for such a long time in both the West End and on tour so it must be doing something right as I know people who go back every time it comes up here on tour (Including myself and my parents).

Personally, I would recommend A Streetcar Named Desire with Rachel Weisz.

They have 10 day seats (reg price but that's still pretty cheap) and then 20 standing for £7.50.

There sometimes are student rushes (A Little Night Music had it before it closed) but its more rare. Usually it's just general concessions and it's usually mostly only plays, or if it's musicals, its about £20-25 which is still $40-50 CDN.

Also, Blood Brothers has been around forever, and it'll probably be around the next time you go. See something more current that you'll never get to see again.

I know what Blood Brothers is doing right, it's on the GCSE drama curriculum.

I liked it... marginally better than Too Close To The Sun.
