Have any of you tried this service? I think it is an amazing idea.
I was looking up the accessibility features at the Barrymore in the Telecharge site and found this:
"Language Subtitles
The Band’s Visit provides real-time translations, on your mobile device. Language Subtitles are available in Hebrew, Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese. For more information, visit the Shubert Audience Services kiosk inside the theatre."
I'm taking my mom to see the show, and although she speaks some English, it's still hard for her to follow the plot when we're seeing shows, so I'm very thankful for this.
I tried looking up if there was any of this at the other shows we're seeing, but I don't think it's available in a lot of shows. Have you heard of this before? Or have you seen it at this or other shows?

I tried the Gala Pro app, captions on your phone, and was a huge fan. I haven't tried the devices they give out at the theatre.

That's interesting for TBV in particular, because that's a show in which some of the dialogue is not translated for non-device-using audiences. For me, that was one of the big reasons that (spoilers just in case)
The scene with Telephone Guy finally getting his girlfriend's call was so powerful. They could have left it untranslated, like other non-English dialogue, and let us wonder if it was her who called and whether it was a "happy" call or not. But instead they let us know that it was unabashedly hopeful.
