Suggestions for lesser-known, smaller theatre in London?

Hello all, this is somewhat in line with the other person asking for show suggestions, but I'm looking specifically for recommendations on smaller, lesser-known plays/musicals/theatre that would be worth seeing on a trip... not sure what the British equivalent of "Off-Broadway"/"Off-Off Broadway" are.

"Artists are always on the vanguard of change: they give the community a vision."
"Desire comes from the Latin "de sire", or "of the father", or "of the stars". We want what is magical, what is out there, what is of the stars. And so our characters should as well."
"If there are people who don't believe in you, don't hang out with them. Wish them well, wish them peace, and move on."

There is no Off-Broadway in London. There's the West End, the Fringe, and a very small number of outliers like the Chocolate Factory who are trying to call themselves "Off-West End" and failing to make it stick.

The Soho Theatre is always worth checking out, as is the Arcola. The Landor does quite great musicals. Just read the Off-Westend and Fringe listings in Time Out and be adventureous. It's almost always worth it.

Check out the Finborugh Theatre, a fabulous tiny theatre space. Everything I've seen there has always been of outstanding quality.

The Jermyn Street is another great intimate theatre. Not sure when you're going to be in London but there is a great production of Sondheim's "Saturday Night" there at the moment and in April there's a production of a terrific new musical "Jet Set Go".

Too bad Saturday Night will have closed - that's one of those so rarely produced Sondheims that I'd jump at the chance to see it.

Thanks for the recommendations!
