Hey all!
The Summer of '42 recording is finally available on Amazon. I just ordered mine.
Rachel York is on the recording, and she's pretty good.
Celia Keenan-Bolger is really wonderful on it as well.
The real highlights from this show for me, though, were Brett Tabisel and Megan Valerie Walker. Serious talents that should be working now!

Rob Lester of Talkin' Broadway has posted his review in Sound Advice. He raves.
I agree with him completely. I love this recording. Ryan Driscoll is absolutely wonderful as Hermie. We'll be seeing more from him, I'm sure. And Rachel York just proves once again that she can sing anything, beautifully and with profound emotion.

Posted: 9/27/08 at 7:59amI'm up late trying to write this term paper and I have a strange question. Figured it better to bump than to start a new thread. I've been listening to BWW Radio for a while now and trying to request songs of shows I'm trying to get into. Summer of '42 seems to come on a LOT and I was just wondering: if I were to choose one song to get me into this show, what would you recommend? There just seem to be so many and all of them seem pretty short. So any help would make this whole psych thing so much better. Thank you!!

Almost impossible to pick just one, but I'd suggest the duet "Someone to Dance with Me." Hermie and Dorothy sing it at the end of Act I, and it's really great. Sums up their hopes and fears and sets the stage for what's to come.
I love this show!
