Sunday Times Arts Section. Opinions?

Did anyone see the Times today? There was a lot on what's going on this spring. HUGE article on THE BOOK OF MORMON. It seems like they are really behind the show.

Ben Brantley also does an article about how he's excited for all the new plays, yet lists ARCADIA in the article which seems odd since its not new. I guess Tom Stoppard just gets a free pass with Brantley? Any excuse to puff him up they take.

There was also a big article about comics coming to Broadway with Ben Stiller in the mix, this seemed odd, since I don't believe he does standup comedy like the others, (Chris Rock, Dane Cook, Robin Williams,) I think Ben Stiller is just a comic actor. Am I wrong? He seems no more a "comic" on Broadway that Jim Belushi or John Laroquette.

I'm also excited to see Nina Arianda in Born Yesterday so i was glad to see her get a nice shout out from Charles Isherwood.

Actually, thanks for sharing! I read the theatre section yesterday evening to catch the Tennessee Williams article and didn't go back to catch what was in there today. Brewing a cup of tea and going to read those articles. Thanks for the reminder!

He says in the beginning of the article that we are getting a reprise of Tom Stoppard.

I love Sherie Rene Scott's answer to which shows she's most looking forward to this spring:

"As a proud three-time Tony-losing actress/writer, it’s hard for me not to play favorites. If I say "House of Blue Leaves," cynics will think it’s just because I’m pals with its brilliant author, John Guare. Not true. Others may accuse me of buttering up the singular, sexy, and oh-so-funny genius that is John Guare because I’m hoping he’ll hire me again. Not true...ish. It’s because "House of Blue Leaves" is a modern-day masterpiece. And because Mr. Guare has the softest hands of any playwright I know, and I think that’s worth something."

I just finished reading that. She's hysterical!

I have put "Unnatural Acts", "The Other Place" and "...Vera Stark" on my list to see.

Ben Stiller played the son in the first Broadway run of House of Blue Leaves.
"Broadway...I'll lick you yet!"

Yeah, but a reprise is of something is a revival. Not a new work. And Ben Stiller is not a stand up comic like the rest. He is a comic actor. It just seemed like faulty writing.

And he is referred to as a comic actor at the beginning of the "Comic Advice" piece.
