Oh this is a really good show! Very cute! I saw it in 1984 with Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin (spelling probably wrong). I enjoyed it especially since we had studied Seurat's paintings and how he was "different" from the norm at the time. We saw the play and then visited the art museums to view his work--quite a trip.

The sketches for the painting and the "Landscape, Island Of The Grande Jattee" (A study done for "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte") were at MoMa recently. The exhibit closed on Monday. Glad I got a chance to see it. Plan to see the revival of the musical next month.

I don't know if I'd call Sunday in the Park with George cute but the use of "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" is a very cool part of the show.

Oh now, I thought the humor was amusing. That's what I mean by cute. The different personalities in the painting (like the woman who doesn't understand why she is holding a monkey), and modern day George's attitude at the cocktail party with all of his cardboard cutouts of himself--not hysterically funny--but "cute".

I think it would be cool to do an exhibit using the sketches Mandy made while in the show, and art work inspired by the musical.
