Is it worth getting? I like the original (can't stand Mandy Patinkin), and I am really thinking about getting the new version as a different take. So, whatcha think? And yes, I know there are multiple threads, but I couldn't find them.

Posted: 10/11/06 at 5:04pmAlthough I will always and forever love the OBCR, this recording is WELL worth purchasing. It includes a lot of the dialogue that did not make the Broadway recording and I personally find the use of different accents fascinating. While Bernadette and Mandy will always be the definitive Dot and George for me, the London cast is absolutely superb. I was able to listen to a different cast and not miss anything from the original; that is saying something.

it's a magnificant recording.
As much as I hate to say it, Jenna Russel and Daniel Evans blow Mandy and Bernedette out of the water.
I adore it

Posted: 10/11/06 at 7:38pmVery well worth it - like I was hearing it for the very first time. I'd love to say that of all the Dot/Maries, I enjoyed Audra MacDonald's at Ravinia the best - sad to say no recording, though.

Absolutely wonderful cast recording!
And Jenna Russell came in my shop tonight; I think it's pretty cool she got the only server in the shop who actually had any idea who she was. But less cool that I'm a bit of an idiot and couldn't think of anything suave to say to her. XD

Posted: 10/12/06 at 4:11pmI most definitely recommend it! Not only is Daniel Evans a far superior George than Mandy Patinkin, in my humble opinion, but the whole cast is wonderful, period! It's also nice to have dialogue to bridge the songs together.
