As per Playbill.com
"“Nothing is signed, sealed and delivered yet, but we are very much in advanced discussions to make that happen,” said Babani, who is the artistic director at Southwark’s Menier Chocolate Factory, where the acclaimed revival of Sondheim and Lapine’s 1984 musical opened in November 2005.
Asked if the New York production would retain Daniel Evans (George) and Jenna Russell (Dot) in the lead roles, Babani said, “That would be great. But there are so many factors involved. It would end up not really being our choice, more one of logistics and finance. But they (Evans and Russell) have certainly been discussed in a very positive way."

I actually think this is a very poor theatre choice. SITPWG requires a real traditional, rectangular proscenium to work best and Studio 54 has a much more square, not well defined, and endlessly tall ceilinged proscenium. If the painting looks taller than it is wide, it can't work effectively. But regardless, Im glad it may be transfering.
If they aren't necessarily keeping the original cast, does this mean that Kelli O'Hara has a shot? I would lose my mind.

If it's possible they'll be recasting in New York, I'm hoping for Kelli O'Hara and Michael Cerveris.
Please?

Jennifer Laura Thompson please. And no, no, no to Cerveris as George. He's talented no doubt, bu give someone else a try at a Sondheim revival!

Ooooh, I've never thought of d'Arcy or Pasquale (someone mentioned him in another thread).
But definitely Brescia as Dot/Marie. Jayne Paterson would also great, but Brescia's due for her big break and, sadly, now she's available.
Pasquale and Brescia. Magnificent.

Brian d'Arcy James would be absolutely brilliant as George.
I'm gonna go for Kelli O'Hara as Dot/Marie. How much I would give to see her in the LA production...
Close second for Dot/Marie would be Marin Mazzie.
If they re-cast for the Broadway transfer, I'd love to see Manoel Felciano as George. I know there are many nay-sayers, but I truly think he's perfect for the part. He performed a beautiful rendition of "Finishing the Hat" at his last gig, and it showcased how powerful his George would be. Neil Patrick Harris is also a good choice, though this is improbable, given his sitcom schedule. A big no to Michael Cerveris. He's a great actor, but completely wrong for the part. And I thought Melissa Errico was a fantastic Dot.
Regardless of the cast, though, the time is ripe for Sunday to be revived on Broadway. I'm thrilled!!

Esparza recreating the role he did in D.C. "Company" will be long gone by then. His George far exceeds his Bobby.
Would it be better at The American Airlines Theatre?

Agreed. What Esparza did with George in DC was fantastic, and what he did with the second-act George was the only time I've seen second-act George become a real character that I truly connected with and cared about.
People have already spoke my mind: RAUL RULES!
