This summer I have the choice of seeing Jesus Christ Superstar, LSoH, or Miss Saigon. I need help deciding!! I love my JCS and Miss S. albums...don't have LsoH but I know I would love it too. Which one should I see?
The current tour of Jesus Christ Superstar is not as good as the video/DVD "new stage production" so I say rent that if you wanna see JCS. Now the Little Shop and Miss Saigon tours are both also "new productions". Little Shop is the "Broadway Tour" and Miss Saigon is the non-equity Cameron Mackintosh approved version with new sets and a new design for the entire production. It all comes down to what you are in the mood for. If you wanna have a good time go see Little Shop. If you wanna spend a romantic and drama filled tragic night at the theatre (and also have a good time) go see Miss Saigon. Especially if you don't have the complete symphonic recording, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the changes. That CD rocks! Just remember that the helicopter effect is a little different from what was on Broadway. I'll be seeing Miss Saigon this June. And Little Shop later this year as well. Have fun!!!
I'm not a fan of the Miss Saigon tour. I thought Jen Hubilla's voice was thin, and I wasn't huge on the music in general. But if you've heard the score before and you liked the music, then you'll probably enjoy the show. The sets are beautiful.
"It's not always about you!!!" (But if you think I'm referring to you anyway, then I probably am.)
"Good luck returning my ass!" - Wilhemina Slater
"This is my breakfast, lunch and f***ing dinner right here. I'm not even f***in' joking." - Colin Farrell
personally, id go with little shop. i did not enjoy the miss siagon tour either, it felt like a poor reproduction of something that must have been great in its origional form (the sets, that is). some of the music is good, but the show is mediocre overall, especially when compared to something like les miz, which was written by the same people.
