A cousin of mine is visiting New York and she wanted to see cabaret type of shows. I am planning to bring her to 54 Below and it's my first time there too but we can only watch one of the 2 shows - Liz and Ann Callaway's Sibling Revelry or Susan Egan's Belle of Broadway.

She loves Liz Callaway's albums but I'm afraid she won't enjoy that much Ann's jazz songs. She has no idea who Susan Egan is but she's a fan of Beauty and the Beast, Les Miz and Disney movies. I'd really appreciate your advice. Thanks!

I think both shows would be fun. I will say that Liz/Ann are frequent performers in the NYC cabaret scene, and they also perform in other cities quite a bit. Egan less often does these NYC cabaret venues, so I think it might be a hotter ticket. You might be able to see Liz/Ann at a future visit; Egan, probably not.

You can't miss with either show--and you'll love 54 Below--but if she loves Liz Callaway's albums, go see Sibling Rivalry. You'll both love the interplay between the two sisters and probably leave as big a fan of Ann as you are of Liz.

Get there early and drink in the atmosphere. It's my favorite place in New York.

AGREE. I've seen both, and they're both great fun.

You can do no wrong with either talented lady.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
