WestEnd2, interesting that you know him. I can understand people being a bit freaked out by him, as you say, because he is obviously not entirely physiologically "normal" is some respect. But I was a bit horrified by the ignorance of both Simon Cowell's comments and Piers' as well. Piers actually referred to him as an "act", as if it was the equivalent of being able to sing while doing handstands! But for all there is so little written now for that voice, for obvious reasons, there is certainly scope out there for him!
"And if the public swearing at Piers Morgan on television (complimenting the Welsh boy) is anything to go by (which it is),"
Why should we go by tabloid reports? It has been denied by those involved, and it sounds exactly the sort of nonsense that the tabloids would make up, or certainly twist out of all original context.
When she is singing well, she has a very pleasant voice, so with the right direction I don't see why she shouldn't contribute to an album and for it to sound good. If she can get her head around all of the expectations there is no reason why she can't take part in concerts.
I just hope that the people who hope to cash in on her popularity don't get too greedy or too ambitious. She might be able to handle singing in a big concert or even headlining her own tour, but she might struggle to play a regular part in any kind of production which requires working as part of a team and various other skills that she might struggle with.
Whether she wins the show or not, she could earn a fortune touring the states and doing corporate gigs for a good many years. The important thing is to make sure she doesn't have some kind of melt-down in the process.

Everyone's first question is: Is he a woman? And: Is he gay? And just about every other ignorant question you can think of. I too was annoyed by Simon and Piers' comments on how he is an 'act' and how it sounded 'wrong', that just encourages all of the other ignorant comments.
I am worried about how he'll do and if he'll go through tonight because as has been said, it will be very difficult getting a good song for him.
He was due to go to the Italia Conti Academy, but the person who was going to fund him had to pull out due to the credit crunch.
He's a little superstar around here now though, he was in the Spar the other week and got mobbed by people wanting his autograph, and apparently the hotel he works at is getting a lot of people asking after him for his autograph and for him to sing something, so his managers asked him to put on a show in the hotel.
As for Susun Boyle, I know all of the crazy media coverage isn't her fault and I do respect that she is under a massive amount of pressure thanks to that (I was nervous for her on Sunday night), I'm just annoyed that as usual with these type of things it's become a 'story contest' rather than the 'talent contest' that the show claims to be. Oh well. I wont be seeing the final tomorrow anyway, I shall be in Washington DC.
Mama..How would Piers Morgan be supposed to know if the swearing at him on the television happened or not. He wasn't there! Other people apparently and purportedly were!
And to Paterson above, with the best will in the world, because I don't remotely wish her (personally) ill, but shows and concerts are not charity events for the benefit of the less adequate. What a travesty is the concept that great performers should be supposed to be sidelined in favour of the meediocre or simply "pleasant", because of the sympathy factor!
And WestEnd2, I hope your boy does gets his training now. Crossed fingers for him!
Pritchard was ok but he was way out of his depth tonight in a performance that was just not as good as his audition and faltered badly from the start. A pity he showed from the start that he was not that comfortable with his performance as that communicated too much to us. Shame as I'd like to have seen more of him.
A shame the show was marred by that irritating little kid who buckled under the pressure and her mother from hell who is living her dream through the kid and heaping on the pressure. Such desperation live on telly was very funny admittedly but it was VERY car crash .
With Susan's problems with learning difficulties and not being able to hold down a job, my heart goes out to her.
Her only singing experience is church choir and Karaoke, she has a very good voice which is untrained imagine the impact she would have if it was harnessed.
Hope she wins and goes onto better things, but if she does I fear she might get exploited.
I also agree with that the post from Paterson is the best comment I have seen thus far. I don't understand why a few people on here are negative against her. I think if I was being harassed I would have done the same thing that she did. I think she is getting a lot of bad press that she doesn't deserve. She deserves the fame that she will be getting from being on this show.
I am not negative about her, I just don't like her capabilities being hyped beyond reason. And I don't think it is ever right for sentimentality to be thought to be the appropriate deciding factor in respect of casting or in any other professional capacity.
If there is truth in the starved of oxygen at birth thing (I haven't read detail), it would actually tally with the short fuse as symptom of the brain damage. But for all she will make lots of money regardless of not winning, I do fear for her future. She is too vulnerable! And when people who are not inherently particularly vulnerable get exploited all too easily, what chance has she got? And one thing that is certain is that the producers etc, who will all be only too keen to profit from her temporary celebrity, will drop her like the proverbial hot brick as soon as her purpose has been served. And I have grave doubts over her ability to cope with that process.
But with regard to the Greg Pritchard boy in the semis, what a fool! He absolutely threw his chances away! And he had been given the prime closing slot too! Of all the ways to go, to actively make himself into a joke act, was not it! What on Earth was he thinking of? But in truth, as untrained, he is not ready anyway. His forte is going to be the sopranist range, and apart from anything else, his ennunciation there was terrible as yet. He needs a lot of work, but it is still well worth the effort. I still hope the exposure opens the right doors to get him that training.
I thought Susan's performance was very good last night. However, very good in comparison to Shaheen's AMAZING vocal performance. people are using Susan's physical appearance, her lack of social skills etc. affect their judgement. She has been singing for almost 50 years, he has been singing for 12. he is an absolute superstar, so what he may have had training. Susan has been in a choir, in most choirs, you don't just turn up and sing; you learn something about technique. Plus, if Susan had won last night. I very much doubt, she'd have seen her 50th birthday. I really think that the global pressure would have got to her, it is clearly evident that she is not mentally stable. And I genuinely worry for her future.
