Does anyone know if Susan Owen performs Christine on certain days, or just when she is needed?
Thank you
She is the understudy, so just when she is needed. Jennifer Hope Wills (the alternate) performs the Monday and Thursday evening performances I believe, but she is doing the tour for the summer, so Julie Hanson will be filling in..
Hanson's already in . . . I checked the theatre last Tuesday.
Has anyone seen Hanson as Christine? I will be seeing her on Monday and am curious how she is in the role...
Julie certainly looks the part. I saw her and th9ough she is very good vocally, she lacks a certain "spark" - at least from the one performance I saw.
I enjoyed Julie's performance very much!
Susan said that she will be going on during the last two weeks of August!
if you want to hear Julie's voice before you see the show, you can watch her "Think of Me" on youtube.

For me, Julie Hanson epitomizes the shrill soprano voice that several Christine Daaes to date have also exhibited. Of course it's all a matter of opinion, but having seen Julie Hanson and Rebecca Pitcher alternate the role of Christine, I have my fingers crossed for Susan Owen (who is one of my favorite Belles, as her performance in the touring company of 'Beauty and the Beast' proved) to be on the next time I see the show in NY.
Susan is on this week as Christine.
Julie Hanson leaves the middle of August, so perhaps Susan will also be finishing up the month in the alternate slot.
Anthony, I think you should get rid of that link.
Julie Hanson is back?! Holy crap, I'm surprised I didn't find out about that sooner. She's a great Christine, I think my favorite overall--while there are a few Christines whose voices I have liked better than Julie's, I think her acting is terrific. Granted, I haven't seen her since late 2004, but she and Hugh Panaro were brilliant then. She gives a little much-needed attitude to what can be such a boring role in the hands of others...

Julie Hanson is by far my favorite Christine. I've seen countless actresses and Julie is fantastic. A friend and I stage doored a couple of years ago when she was alternate and she's extremely nice and sweet. She signed my Don Juan score I got at the Broadway cares flea market!
I saw Julie last month, and thought she did a very nice job. I'll admit, it took awhile for her to grow on me, primarily because of the shrill qualities of her voice, but her acting was always top notch and, by the end, she won me over.
