Sutton Foster in Les Misérables Question

Posted: 6/13/08 at 4:58pmI was listening to a radio interview with her, and I think they said that she only played the role for one week. Is this true? I think I remember them saying that she did the role on tour, but how did it all work out for her?

I don't have precise dates for you. According to Les Miserables Broadway (broadwaylesmis.com), she was in the ensemble understudying Eponine in 1998. Then she played Eponine in the 3rd National Tour in 1999.
(Edited from what I originally said which was wrong).

Her Eponine was the best I've ever seen live.
I believe she only played the role in the 3rd national tour. Never heard of her understudying any Les Mis role on Broadway, but I could be wrong.

Posted: 6/13/08 at 10:12pmSutton was an amazing Eponine! she was the first eponine i saw live and she absolutely delivered... she was taller than marius and used that to play around with him... she was very tomboyish in the role and her On My Own was very heartwrenching... if anything i remember that voice belting out the music so pure and clear

Sutton Foster was OUTSTANDING as Eponine.
And she was on tour for over a year (?). Maybe by a week she meant she and Hunter were in the show together for a week? Because I think that's what happened when they overlapped on Broadway -- she was new and he was about to leave.

Sutton was simply sublime in the role. Best Eponine to date.
Brought such a vitality to the character that most actresses miss.

Posted: 6/14/08 at 2:29amShe was brought to the Broadway production from the road for a short stint. She was excellent. Tall, gawky, boyish and simultaneously heart breaking. She covered the role on Broadway prior to playing the role on tour.

I think she was. But, I think that it was before that lyric was added in the show. I know that there have been so many lyric changes for that show it is hard to keep track of them.
I do know that on tour she played opposite Tim Hower as Marius.

It couldn't have been, because that lyric was part of the 10th anniversary changes in 1997, and she joined after that.
She did perform with Tim Howar, and then left to be replaced by Raegan Kotz. In... Kansas City, I think? (Tim was still there when Sutton left.)
