Sutton and this years Tonys...?

I know Sutton has a supporting role this year in Drowsy.

But will she be nominated in the featured Tony category, or will the producers try to get her nominated in the Leading Actress category - just because she is "Sutton" ?

If it is supporting - she will give the Sweeney and CP ladies some competition. But she has barely any chance in the leading category.

From everything I've heard, that role is featured. They'd be idiots to fight for a lead role consideration. I've heard great things about Sutton in Drowsy but she can't beat Lupone or LaChanze.

That is most definitely a supporting role.

However, what might end up in her favor in regards to getting a lead nomination is that there isn't really a lead actress in Chaperone. Sutton's role is definitely as large as any other female role in the show.

All that being said, I think the producers would like to push her for the category she'd have the best shot at winning and that is definitey supporting.

She missed out on a nomination for the role in the Drama Critics Circle Awards in LA in favor of Beth Leavel. So who knows, she may even end up *gasp* not being nominated for a Tony either.

Well, even if she is nominated, I truly think that Felicia P. Fields is going to win.
