Swan Lake 10/17/10 matinee

I had the chance to check out Swan Lake this afternoon at The City Center. I was living in DC back in 1998 so never got a chance to see this in New York. People are making a bit of an issue about the show using a recording as opposed to live musicians. Honesty, I didn't have a problem with the recorded music. The first act dragged a bit for me, but I thought they did a great job of developing the characters through each scene. I found the second act to be much more engaging. I really had no idea about the plot, so I enjoyed the suspense and sexual tension. If you have a chance to go, it's definitely worth your time. I had tickets through TDF, row N in the rear mezzanine. I found myself wishing though that I would have splurged for tickets in the orchestra for this one. I guess though if I had to choose between paying $32.00 and sitting where I sat and not going at all...well that's a no brainer.

I saw the show in Arizona. It had a full orchestra. I honestly did not like the production. It is the only show I have left at intermission for. It was part of my Broadway series subscription so that was the only reason I went. I am not a big fan of ballet though.
