I realize it has not opened yet...  but has there been any talk of the revival of SWEENEY TODD recording a cast album ?

I know it’s not real confirmation but didn’t the actor playing Anthony say in an interview he is looking forward to playing the recording to his grand children? In my opinion there is a 99.99999% chance there will be a recording given everyone involved.

Haven't heard anything, but I agree...it seems highly unlikely we won't get a recording. 

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

It would really be something if we got a recording to rival the original broadway cast album.

The OBC recording remains my all time favorite cast album.

You wouldn’t say the Patti/Hearn Nyphil CD with Audra as the beggar woman (iirc?) at least rivals the OBC a little? Or at least, no less rivalry than I imagine this potential recording could except it’ll be in a studio with a fully rehearsed cast.

^ Exceptional talent to be found in that album but the OBC transports me to the world of a penny dreadful. I feel like I'm in Hal Prince's world of an industrial revolution hellscape where the workers haven't seen the light of day in ages.

I think even if the production is a total disaster they'll be doing a cast recording
