I agree, I thought it was kinda missing something too.

I still liked it but i think they could polish the ending a bit.

I don't think that as it was originally conceived, the problem with Oscar's inability to commit was the fact that he was gay. It could be interpreted that way, of course. But ultimately it should be Charity's story and not Oscar's coming out story.

Someone could write a sequel, I suppose...

NO, Oscar is not gay. He has trouble committing to Charity because of her past, and that is all the role is intended to be.

I have seen many threads on this site debating whether or not the character of Oscar is "coming off gay", but the character of Oscar is not gay.

Denis O'Hare doesn't give off many straight vibes. You can almost see him wearing an "I can't even sing straight" t-shirt. Maybe his portrayal seems gay?

I agree..what "gay vibes" are people picking up on?

If you read through the Charity threads, you'll see the following types of comments regarding O'Hare's performance:

Negative
I can't buy his character as straight
Is Oscar supposed to be retarded?
O'Hare can't hide his sexuality in this role
There's no chemistry between Charity and Oscar.

Postive
Denis O'Hare is the highlight with his "comical tics"
O'Hare is the best thing about this show
O'Hare is amusing as a nebbish man who can't handle Charity's past.

I can't wait to check out his performance for myself and see what everyone is talking about!
