This looks like it's going to be a fun revival and CA seems an excellent choice!
I cant wait! It looks like it will be amazing, great cast and creative team!
For some reason, I have a feeling Ben Brantley will be writing a love letter to Christina Applegate, just a weird hunch.
Well, if she is terrible, Brantley will love her.
If she is wonderful, Brantley will hate her.
At least if he keeps the same point of view he has had these past few years.
And I love the commerical.

You know better than that, Priest.
Anyway, Applegate's singing voice isn't much, but if she's got charisma and dancing ability she can make up for that. And if that commercial were any cuter I would have been forced to hang myself from the roof of a Barbie house.

She does that Boxing step from Rich man's Frug in one bit... Maybe they are keeping ti Fosse styled?

I know its all new choreography, but I'm not sure if its in the style of Fosse.
That is cute, I look forward to seeing it in Boston. Who knows, Christina could surprise

Where on the website do you go to view it?
Wow, who knew she had so much presence? Absolutely adorable! And for this particular role, that seems like the most important part. As for singing, as much as I love Verdon, her music wasn't that challenging or rangy was it?
(I don't think she's trying to be like Sutton. Sutton's girl-next-door-fresh-face cute. Christina is innocent-with-some-sex-appeal cute. There are some similarities but not a lot. I love them both though!)

Anyway, I think it look pretty cute, and I **crosses fingers** hope she can pull it off! I have faith, so hopefully it won't be let down! I mean the singing was THAT bad... it could be a lot worse. And shes adorable and seemed pretty secure with the dancing, so... I'm sold...
Verdon wasn't that great of a singer in Sweet Charity (That is why I do not own the cast recording) but Christina sounded better and as I already said, I hope they release a cast recording.
DERRICK WILLIAMS WAS ON THAT COMMERICAL YAY FOR HIM
that looks adorable!! It's almost like a thin tracy turnblad singing "if my friends could see me now" i totally love the revamp on the SC design to catch peoples eyes. I know I am super excited for this show!
I love Ms. Applegate's recent work. I am really looking forward to it.
I honestly thought I couldn't love her more than I already do...I can't wait to see the show in Chicago now!

Well, with all the gushing I had to go check out the video clip. Then I had to watch it again to see what I was missing.
Maybe it's me, but there really isn't enough there to give me an idea one way or another about the quality of Miss Applegate's singing, dancing, or stage presence, let alone the total production. All I saw was a combination of Barbie and Marilyn Monroe poses. Not what comes to mind for me when I think of Charity Hope Valentine. Is she cute? Sure. But cute can only go so far, in my opinion. Two hours of it can become pretty boring.
Plus, there is an edge to SWEET CHARITY - not the girl, but the show. I hope that isn't lost is this version. Time will tell.

Oy!
Am I the only one who thinks this looks awful. I mean hello people SHE CAN'T SING! And to the person who said she sounds better than Gwen Verdon... I think you need to get your ears checked. Gwen Verdon had character to her voice...Christina Applegate doesn't sound any better than the girl who played it at the little community playhouse.
And SURPRISE, SURPRISE...the whole marketing theme looks like HAIRSPRAY. I guess they think it will bring in audiences. Sure it's a comedy but it's not bubble gum garbage. I mean I knew it would be bad when they said Wayne Cilento would be choreographing- but really.
I have to shed a tear for Broadway right now...so much nostalgic garbage- makes me want to throw up.
The only reason I'm interested in seeing it is for the new alternate ending...oh wait I can just see it now. She actually ends up with Oscar. If that happens and you see someone stand up in the theater and boo you'll know who bestofbroadway is.
Oh how I wish Jane Krakowski was Charity.
Well she sure sounds better than Shirley. I'm so glad that I'm in Chicago so that I can see this in the spring.
I have to admit that is pretty damn cute. She actually reminds me a lot of Gwen Verdon in her singing. I didn't know what to expect her to sound like.
The marketing campaign looks a little misleading, unless they're fluffifying (I just made that word up) the show. It looks like Austin Powers: The Musical.
And as far as choreography goes, I saw some Fosse punches in there.
Oh, and Jane Krakowski would have been amazing! We'll see how Christina does.
i think it looks very cute! as for her singing i didnt find it to bad. as others have said the role was not written for a great singer.
I have to say that I for one am looking forward to this revival. Some people should have faith in the casting for this show. And as for the commercial, its quite catchy, it caught everyone on this threads attention (good or bad!)

I know Cilento is choreographing but can't we hope for a "FOsse hommage" like when Walter Bobbie (the director) teamed up with Reinking for the last FOsse revival--Chicago?
Reinking's choreography outside of CHicago (which isn't as good as what i've seen of the original but is largely great) is IMHO awful (rent Bye Bye Birdie for a messy sample)--so maybe Cilento will smarten up too?

This looks like so much fun! I'm surprised by her voice - I was expecting something huskier from her, but I think that she's got the Verdon "pipsqueak packing a punch" thing down. Plus, she's got MONTHS before she sings this number on stage. I really think this revival might be a huge hit.
