I wouldn't mind seeing Charlotte in this role. Critics who saw both Christina and Charlotte - loved them both. Check out Clive Barnes review, if you haven't seen it.

Anyway, I wonder who they are putting on as Roxie over at Chicago. Hopefully Michelle DeJean.

No, Natascia Diaz was fired for off stage behavior. Not sure why Solange Sandy was let go, but their replacements are just as good if not better. It was certainly not a question of talent, you're just being bitchy Bob

I didn't see Diaz or Sandy, but LaManna and DaCosta are both pretty damn good. The best parts of the show, if you ask me.

I think Natascia and Solange looked way too young for the roles. Nickie and Helene are suppose to have "been around the block", and they are always complaining about how long they've in the Fandango. LaManna and Da Costa fit that image MUCH better.

Anyway - I'm sure Solange wasn't fired for anything negative - like Diaz might've been. Because The Weissler's gave Solange the role of Annie in Chicago.

My thoughts were the exact opposite, actually - I've always felt Christina was a little too young and fresh-faced in the role. Granted, that put a new spin on the role, but my impression of Charity (and even the way it was portrayed in the Fellini film) is that Charity was getting on in years and had been going through a lot of hard times for quite a long time. Just my personal interpretation, though.

I've seen both Charlotte and Christina. Charlotte is the better singer/dancer (obviously. And she actually attempts to sing "Where Am I Going?") but I think Christina pulled off the scenes a lot better. Charlotte looks awkward performing combinations she could have mastered when she was 15.

NOt being bitchy. I hated LaManna in the role. HATED. I thought she was awful, a passable dancer, and played the whole role a bit "balls to the wall". Decosta just gave a non-performance in my opinion. I thought they massacred "Baby Dream Your Dream".

LaManna and Da Costa have the best "Baby, Dream You Dream" on record, in my opinion. I think they are fabulous.

The new cast recording is EXTREMELEY weak throughout I think. I saw Solange & Diaz in Chicago-- they & Denis O'Hare were so good it was like they were in a different show (And oh I wished they had been!)

I saw Charlotte on April 13 and thought she was fantastic! I never saw Christina, but I too liked the fact that Charity was a tad older...showing she'd been around but still kept her optimism all along. Of course Charlotte was a FANTASTIC dancer and really pulled off the comedy and just the whole feeling of the character wonderfully. Even in her singing slightly surprised me, in umm...shoot, the big second act number she sings that's not I'm a Brass Band? Sorry memory lapse. But the finish of that song was great, I loved it.

She made the production wonderful, and the whole show just worked great around her. I was sitting near audience members who were expecting Christina or at intermission thought it still might be her(course I had to correct them) and by the end of the show they couldn't stop saying how fantastic Charlotte was and how they can't imagine Christina being better or as good, and they came to see her, so I was so happy for Charlotte. What a great triumph!

I saw the show last week and Charlotte isn't even in the playbill and according to my playbill, there is no STANDBY only the UNDERSTUDY, who is DYLIS CROMAN.

I listened to the Charity OBC for the longest time, without having any other recording of Charity. I love the OBC. I like the Debbie revival recording, and I really enjoy the Christina recording.

Standbys are often uncredited in the playbill. In this case, it may be per an agreement with Actors Equity.

I don't know what the current role is about actors appearing in two Broadway shows simultaneously, but that question has been debated since Cynthia Nixon did two shows at the same time in the early 80s.

What Playbill was used last night? During the first week of New York previews the Playbill read "Charlotte d'Amboise in Sweet Charity" with no mention of Christina Applegate anywhere. Was that one used again last night.
