I am sure that of the many users on BWW, only a small fraction know who Georgia Brown is - and an even smaller fraction care.
Anyway, I found these two amazing videos I had to share with all. (I recently put a bunch of pictures of her in my profile...check them out!)
The first is a rare clip of her singing her famous AS LONG AS HE NEEDS ME from OLIVER! It's only a small clip - but she is intense.

The second video is probably even rarer. Not only is it Georgia Brown looking beautiful on the Dinah Shore Show, but it's also Barbara Streisand singing back-up (try to focus on Brown though!).
I'm sure you can pick out Striesand - and Dinah Shore...well Brown is the other one (the brunette). She's fantastic.

Enjoy!
Georgia Brown was a brilliant performer. Such a sad loss that she died at a relatively young age. So many roles she would have been extraordinary in had she not died so unexpectedly.
Her rendition of "My Man's Gone Now" is one of the most emotionally-invested and passionate renditions of ANY song I've heard in a while. And thank God, I got to hear her "Pirate Jenny," total brilliance.
A great talent indeed, that I just recently became familiar with, and it's great that there's still clips and recordings to keep her alive in our memory.
Ah yes, Sweet Georgia Brown. Thank you, BSoBW2. It was wonderful seeing these clips.

I had seen these clips before. I have always loved Georgia Brown's voice. I wish they had recorded the Broadway "3 Penny Opera" where she played Mrs. Peachum.
Unfortunately, Broadway never completely appreciated her talent. In a perfect world, she could have made a great Mama Morton in "Chicago".
Very rarely have I seen an actress with the sheer artistry and charisma of Georgia Brown. Its interesting to hear the London and Broadway recordings of As Long as He Needs Me -- and how her phrasing metamorphosized. Her solo albums are also terrific -- especially the Gershwin and Weill. Also a mighty fine actress: Rosa was an electric evening of theater, driven entirely by Brown's magnetism. I'm waiting for the release of her six part series of the Suffragettes Shoulder to Shoulder to be released. She sings March of the Women by Dame Ethel Smyth and plays one of the central characters, a millworker named Annie Kenny. What an underappreciated loss.

I hadn't heard about this. Can you elaborate on when they will be released and how to get them?
Also, for those Georgia Brown lovers, she makes two appearances on the tv show "Cheers" as a medium that Carla consults (although she doesn't sing).

Anyone ever see her in FISH POLICE?
(There are clips of the show on YouTube with Megan Mullally, John Ritter, and Buddy Hackett...no GB.)

There is a picture of her as Annie Kenney in my profile...the montage.
