any idea where TDF seats you at Curtains? Wouldnt mind seeing it before it closes but not sure if it makes sense to try for TDF if I am in the back of the Hirschfeld balcony, which is less than an ideal view...

any info would be helpful. thanks!

I haven't sat there for Curtains, but I think everyone should see Curtains before it closes. No matter where you are sitting.

I was in the extreme side of the orchestra.

Not the best place to be if you haven't seen the show before, but I didn't mind it since I had already seen the show.

I'll echo Ashley0139's sentiments - you should go see CURTAINS before it closes. It's a lot of fun.

When I've gotten TDF seats I sat in the orchestra near the back - once in the center section and once on the left side. But there really aren't any bad seats for CURTAINS. If you're on the fence, just go ahead and buy the TDF ticket.

Orchestra--quite good seats.

thought id update to let you know that i sat in Row U of the orchestra, dead center. the overhang from the mezz was a lil much, but the view was spot on... ideally wed be a few rows up but overall, not bad. the orchestra was packed, and the mezz was empty, and i think we shoulda moved upstairs to front mezz for act 2 but whatever.

as for the show: im shocked how much i enjoyed it. i really wasnt bored AT ALL and while it had a pretty weak book, David Hyde Pierce kept me entertained every minute he was onstage! What a performer! I loved Raul in Company and didnt understand the DHP win, but now i sure as hell do. Really brilliant.

The music was so-so, the dancing was OK, i cant really pinpoint anything i particularly loved about the show other than DHP, but i really did enjoy myself!

jasion danielys voice is beautiful, and edward hibbert had me laughing OUT LOUD every other minute. he was priceless!

the weak links, unfortunately, were the women. I found Erin Davie to be ABSOLUTELY IRRITATING. I saw her in Grey Gardens and The Glorious Ones and here she just really grated on me. Im not sure if she was directed to be so phonysweet but... oy. I was also disappointed with Karen Ziemba who gave her all, but seems exhausted- her vocals were straind, her dancing wasnt what i expected (i looooved her in CONTACT)- again, she was good, and im not disrespecting her incredible skill... shes been at it for a year and it shows, is all. (out of breath in Thataway, for example...)

Debra Monk's understudy was on- and i am a big u/s fan but... OK voice, but comic timing? not so much. Megan Sikora meanwhile, stole every scene she was in.

anyway DHP. funny book. good fun! go see it before it closes. i was REALLY impressed!

Which of Monk's understudies was on? Patty Goble?

I'd love to see her play Carmen. I enjoyed her immensely in Ragtime when I saw her go on as Emma Goldman.

yeah patty goble.

not to be a hater- she had a decent voice and was comfortable in the role- but SO MANY of carmen's lines fell flat. she just doesnt have that ease/slease about her the way debra monk does (at least from the press reels ive seen)

overally, she delivered a fine performance but im pretty sure i would have recognized that shes an u/s even without the slip in my playbill/recognition of debra monk.

that said, shes above the title, and it would be foolish to even bother getting a refund...she doesnt in any way ruin the show

Ziemba is coming back from a long stretch of being quite ill.

re: TDF/Curtains

I saw this show in October from Row S od the Mezz. directly under one of the spots and I had a perfect view.
I recommend this show for ANYONE going to new york, its just a good old fashioned show with wonderful music. The book is OK but I thought the dancing was FANTASTIC and the sets were incredible.
DHP- Kicked ass. Clear tony winner. Wondeful guy. Brilliant actor. He carried the show veryy well.
Debra Monk- Man can she act. She played that role with such crass and rudeness, then I met her at the stage door and she was so motherly and kind it was a total 180. She had some brilliant laugh lines.
Ed Hibbert- This man is a comic genius. He is so dry with his humor I loved it!
Matt Farnsworth- Jason Daniely broke his hand so matt stepped in. His voice was soo good. Like he wowed everyone. I was bummed I wasn't seeing Jason but man did this guy make up for it.
Darcie Roberts- It was her last show so she went on as Georgia. Bummed I didn't see Karen but this girl did a great job.
Jill Paice- She is a brilliant actress. She was soooo into her character it was just amazing.
Noah Racey- That man can dance.
Overall I'm pissed that its closing. But am I glad it is touring!!!
Here's the gift I got after my stage door experience.
I bought one of the those things that the guys sell on the streets with the playbill picture on the front and its in a glass frame thing.

Patty Goble was in tonight and did a fine job...though my heart did sink a little bit when I saw that Debra was out (the house manager said she had been sick for about a week now and that no one is certain when she is going to return).

I wasn't blown away by the show, but had a good time (I laughed practically every time Edward Hibbert delivered a line) and was happy to finally see it before it closes. The cast was exceptionally gracious (though DHP looked bored as hell going through the motions) at the stage door, which was nice as well.
