Well, I know the show won't be to everyone's taste, but then nothing is, is it? Besides, I just remembered that this isn't the funniest show in the world. Mine is. re: THE DROWSY CHAPERONE first preview reviews?

Actually, Steve, it appeals to more than I would have thought. I went with my musical-theater-appreciative mother, my sleeps-through-everything-including-the-most-exciting-thing-ever father, and my Are-you-kidding-me?-I-don't-want-to-go-to-a-musical older brother (aged 21). They all LOVED it. So, not to say it appeals to everyone, but it definitely reaches out to a greater audience than most other shows.

I know I already posted a thread on this, but it wasn't answered and I'd like to purchase the tickets right now and I apologize if it bothers anyone that I posted this twice, sorry...

I'm seeing this show next month and I just wanted to make sure I got good tickets. I have two options...Orchestra Row C Right of Center seats 10 to 12 OR Orchestra Row N Center seats 110 to 112. Which are better? To be farther back, but center or closer and to the right...

I just got a call from my friend from Minn who was there...he adored it, can't stop talking about it, laughing about it, loving it. It's the kind of word of mouth most shows dream of!

cant even gather my thoughts right now.

This show, to me... is THE best musical of the year. Tony's all around if the awards were not a political charade.

I want to run back and see it tomorrow. so hilarious. so appropriate. poking fun at theater and being nostalgic about it at the same time. but also, just really connecting with the audience and being DEAD ON about the theatre experience. i dont even know if that made sense, those who saw it get what im saying i'm sure.

but WOW. wow, wow. I'm not a shill i swear! this musical... whoa.

As those sitting next to me will confirm, I was laughing hysterically practically from beginning to end. I totally agree with Jordan. It's non-stop comedy, camp and cleverness.

I, too, am tired...and a little overwhelmed, so I can't really post an elaborate review. (Besides, go and be surprised. It'll be more fun that way.)

It's like every old musical you've ever seen with contemporary, humorous commentary. (Think Singin' in the Rain; No, No, Nanette (70s Broadway version); and Me and My Girl...except that all of the music in Drowsy is original.)

As we left, my husband said, "So how many more times are we going to see this show?"

Pengy and Yoda, I hope my exhuberant response didn't annoy you too much! re: THE DROWSY CHAPERONE first preview reviews?

Loved it. I absolutely loved it. From the moment the lights went down to when they came back up, I was in love. Definitely one of the best new musicals in years.

And that cast...wow.

I was there! I won the lotto. (WOOHOO!) Bob Martin was just too amazing, just adorable and so subtle. His performance reminds me a lot of Denis O'Hare's in TAKE ME OUT. Sutton was her amazing self. Beth Leavel as the Chaperone was brilliant. She reminded me of Norma Desmond. And Troy Britton Johnson is HOT HOT HOT. Like so gorgeous, wow! And he's talented too! Great tapping, great singing, superb comic timing. The Kravits Brothers were sooooo cute! I couldn't get enough of them dancing in their little aprons. What a great show. Georgia Engel was very cute too. Am I the only one who she reminded of Mrs. Potts in Beauty & the Beast? Also, did anyone else notice that it looked like she knocked one of her teeth out with the glass she was drinking from? One minute she had a full set of teeth and the next she had a space where one of her teeth was. I hope she was OK. Christopher Seiber and Doug Wright were in the audience, along with Mr. Sutton Foster to-be (Christian Borle). What a blast. As much as I loved the show though, I think Brantley is going to hate it, hate hate hate it, for the same reasons he hated Millie. re: THE DROWSY CHAPERONE first preview reviews? It's fun and goofy and tappy and cutesy. So don't listen to him. Bob Martin gives a performance for the ages. I hope his acting, in addition to his writing, is recognized at Tony time. YAY DROWSY! re: THE DROWSY CHAPERONE first preview reviews?

I'm glad to hear it's living up expectation. Not surprised, though. Saw the show here in Toronto 5 years ago and found it an energetic delight from start to finish. Now we will finally get an OCR.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I just got home from the show too, and I just keep laughing thinking about it!
Casey Nicholaw's direction, and especially his choreography are briliant! I loved the tap scene in "Cold Feets", and then in the show stopper, "Show Off", Sutton gets to show off of her triple talents and then some. She's quite an acrobat as well.
The set starts out as a humble apartment, and then turns fabulous as the ensemble goes through their numbers, and the costumes (and wigs) also worked well.
I also want to mention Georgia Engel. What a sweetie! And then she grosses us out with that spitting scene.
Oh, and that airplane scene at the end, "I do, I do In The Sky", well you just have to see it!
My only complaint is that it's too short, and not there's not enough big dance numbers, but what's there is all first rate.

I just got tickets to see it again in May. re: THE DROWSY CHAPERONE first preview reviews?

I was in Row E, 5th seat from the aisle, stage right.

Perhaps I will try to go in April, too!

Bob Martin is a brilliant writer, and his character is not only funny but sweet, too.

Even though I loved everyone in the cast, he and Beth Leavel are my favorites.

I told you people would love it. I'm originally from Toronto and people have been telling me about it all year. And that was before LA and all the new work.

it was under 2 hours, I don't remember exactly. There was no intermission though.

I can't wait to go back!
