All of us L.A. folk should have written reviews to help out all the anxious people!! Haha, but seriously, I hope it goes extremely well, and not too much has changed.
Except for Georgia Engel. She can change.

Hey, singingbackup, you went closing night, too!? So did I! It was fantastic, the energy they had, knowing it was possibly their last night performing. Haha, great show.
I just got home from the show and my jaw is still hurting from laughing and smiling so hard. This show is absolute musical comedy heaven. I'm too tired to post an entire review, plus I need to watch tonight's episode of 24, but I will say that the entire cast especially Sutton Foster, Beth Leavel and the uproariously funny Bob Martin are beyond description. This really is a musical comedy for people who love and appreciate musicals.
And I also do believe I just saw the first preview of the 2006 Tony Award winner for Best Musical... :)
Wow. As much as I love to hear the good news, those are some big words. Hopefully I'll be able to get tickets for soon after it opens.
Wow Jordan! I'm seeing it tomorrow night--thanks for the fabulous review!
Clay and Sara went. We should tie them down and make them post reviews when they get back.
I went tonight (quite by accident, I didn't expect to get a lotto ticket) - I'm also too exhausted to give a really good review. This little show just pulled out all the stops. They were adorable. I had an idiot grin on my face the whole time.
I have NO IDEA how the actors IN the "musical" are able to sing that stuff without having a good laugh in the middle of a song. Sutton Foster's "Brides Lament" is the most (intentionally) insipid, stupid, inane thing I've ever heard. The audience was howling and she was singing those...lyrics... like her overacting heart was in peices all over the floor. Very first rate. She's a real gem, and has brilliant comic timing.
And any show that points out the similarites between musical theater and porn is good in my book.
Can someone be nominated for best actor in a musical if they don't sing? Because... seriously....
I'll review it later, but it was DARLING.

He also wrote the book and I'm sure he'll pick up an award for that, hopefully in addition to an acting award. He was HYSTERICAL!
I was there as well! I have found that I am absolutely horrible at reviews, but I must say that it was absolutely hilarious. So loveable! :) I can't wait to go back!
And, frogs_fan85 ...
they had window cards (which the cast, at least Sutton had yet to see)
T-Shirts with the logo
T-Shirts that said "The Oops Girl"
and magnets (I believe that is what they were. I didn't get too close to the booth)
I've been holding back something waiting for all the NY folks to see the show. Anyone who's been reading the threads on this show over the past six months knows that I've been praising this show to high heaven. Totally telling you how unbelievably good it is.
Okay, here's the big secret:
I WAS HOLDING BACK! IT'S BETTER THAN I WAS TELLING YOU. IT'S THE FUNNIEST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN IN THE THEATRE. MAYBE LONGER.
And saying that won't hurt your enjoyment. It's that good.

Respectfully disagree. Found the beginning lovable and promising and then it tailed off by the end. It will be a great show for a sophisticated audience appreciating this kind of humor. Bob Martin is fantastic and helps to tie it all together and keep things moving along. Sutton was excellent as well. It just didn't do a lot for me, but I can understand why some will love it. I think it will have a tough time selling a lot of tickets on Broadway. Enjoyed Jersey Boys and Wedding Singer, two technically far inferior shows, much better.
