Who wants to start taking bets as to when "Stop! In the Name Of Love" gets interpolated into the score as a last-ditch effort?
That LA times article certainly intoned it's a strong possibility such things may occur (or are already occurring) and desperate times call for desperate measures.

I love the comment below the Vlog that said this will be a big, fat hit.
This honestly makes me sad. This could've been such a wonderful musical. That film is so great, and it always had such musicality. Why must they be crucifying it?
I went this weekend also. The review by Wildcard is very much the way I feel. Sheryl Lee has far the best solo number and does a nice job with it but the music is not special.
The sets could not be more simple but sometimes simple can be striking; these are not. There is plenty of room for improvement.
The musical is a bit of a downer and lacks the joyous spark you find in the movie. It is still in previews and I'm sure there will be improvement but having a hit on Broadway takes something very good.
Tell us more about the performances, the book & the score. Pleeease.

Why give a skinny woman a fat suit and throw away a good casting opportunity for a heavier woman?
It just makes no sense to me.
...because how would a larger actress make the transformation to thinner by the end of the show?

By dressing bulkier in the beginning. In the movie, Brenda isn't exactly a toothpick at the end.
This is probably the most promising photo they've released yet.
Could Sheryl Lee Ralph be any more gorgeous?

Part of me wishes they could really get this right for Broadway, just to prove people wrong.
And I have never even seen the movie.
How did the stage the end of "You Don't Own Me" when they walk out the doors and into the street?
just kidding.. too soon?

The movie is one of my all time favorites, for no apparent reason.

How do they end Act 1? Are they beginning Act 2 when Annie and the girls go out to the lesbian night club? They should end Act 1 after the breaking-into-Morty's-apartment scene. There's a real closure after that. The next scene is the girls celebrating their first found victory. Maybe a reprise of "Ready for a Change"?

Act 1 ends as you described it BillFinn. And yes, I do agree with you about where the act should change

Have your way with me? That sounds like rape.
The 11 o'clock number should be when Elyse reveals to Bill about his mistress' age. The film is just a 10 minute montage from there ending with the big dinner. So that all could be simplified easily. If they want to shorten Act 2, I don't know how necessary staging an entire bar mitzvah is. The only redeeming things about that scene is 1) Diane Keaton's line and 2) learning about Morty's indiscretions from Uncle Carmine. So you could learn about Morty's thing earlier in Act 1 to get them to steal the files by the end of Act 1. and then Act 2 could wrap up with the auction/Annie getting at Bill/ and THEN OF COURSE! The big fight. THAT is gold... which eventually leads you to their reconciliation and Elyse's moment.
Can you tell I've thought about this before? I'm a big nerd.

Brad Oscar will most likely not take part in the show if it makes it to Broadway since he is playing Inspecter Kemp/Blind Hermit in the tour "Young Frankenstein."
