Posted: 4/9/08 at 10:47pmLinda Lavin is giving an absolutely hilarious performance in Paul Rudnick's new plays, "The New Century". The plays start off with a monologue hilariously performed by Linda Lavin that had the audience roaring with laughter. She was so brilliant with working the audience. It reminded me of when I saw Julie White in "The Little Dog Laughed". She had the audience in the palm of her hands. Sadly I cannot say the same for Peter Bartlett. He played his role very well, but the audience was terribly bored. The reasons why I believe the second play didn't work as well was because of Rudnick's writing. It was tired. But Jayne Houdyshell is incredible. She is hysterical one minute and heartbreaking the next. An utterly excellent performance. It was a very entertaining night at the theatre and will make you laugh. Lavin and Houdyshell are worth a full price ticket...Go!
